My dealer says that BRP policy says they have to keep the
unit in-house while waiting for a backordered warranty part.
The part is 3 Months out. Has anyone else been told this?
I have tried for a month to get answers from BRP.
TIA

Where's that BS Meter when you need it!! :banghead:
You got any other dealers within a day's travel you could go to? If so, I would!
Dealer told me if I take the Spyder,
BRP will cancel part Order. I called
BS from day one. Been calling and
emailing BRP and always get replies
of a supervisor will call you.
Tell the dealership to open a case with BRP and take the warranty part off another Spyder.
What is this back ordered warranty part? Does said part make the machine un-rideable ?
My thought is similar to what troop said. If the broken part makes the bike either unridable or at least unsafe to ride, I can see this. I can even see the dealer not letting you continue to ride if it's some sort of recall, even if it's still technically safe to ride. If not, keep calling BuRP CC (best of luck w/that) or file a BBB or AG complaint.
Spyder is 2018 F3L. The backordered part is the "Left Hand Multi-Function Switch assembly".
Not any safety issues, just won't go in reverse or manually downshift. TSB 2018-5.
The dealership has my Spyder. If I pick it up I will be responsible for
the $99 BUDS diagnostic charge. I have sent another email to BRP...
Possibly a short term solution would be for you to give them a credit or debit card number. This might make them feel more comfortable in letting the Spyder go. Then when the part comes in you could bring it back. Knowing that they have your number this would insure you would not get it repaired elsewhere.
Another thought is that if the dealer really valued you as a customer they would take the switch assembly off of another Spyder in their showroom.
The BS meter is in full operation here. The dealer is an outright liar. I would not trust them for anything. Are they cheating on their floor plan? And need to have stock on the floor to match inventory numbers? I know a couple places where that has actually gone on with other motorcycles. :dontknow: :lecturef_smilie:
Time to find a better dealer. And they must release your Spyder, they cannot legally keep it.
What's the name of the dealer? I'm not in KY but I'm sure others would like to avoid them, if possible.
I will hold off on naming the dealer... for now.
I took the Service Writers word that the hold Policy
was from BRP. I will be contacting the dealer, since
BRP Customer Support is non-existent.
Check out Cheap Cycle Parts - 710008091 Looks as if it may be in stock.
Tried to call "Cheap Cycle Parts" keeps disconnecting??
I believe the correct PN is 710006576. The original PN was 710005427 but is listed as changed to the former by Cheap Cycle Parts. CCP also lists the part as specifically for the 2018 F3 Ltd, amongst other F3s. PN 710008091 is listed by CCP as for MY 2020 and 2021 F3s. Send this post, along with a complete, polite litany of the BS you are getting from the dealership to brpcare@brp.com and ask them to get off their backsides and get a WARRANTY part, 710006576, for your Spyder from CCP, who has it in stock. Last step, find a new dealership.
