Duh?? the drivers are called sanitation engineers!!!!!!!!!!! It's just a nice descriptor for a dirty job.
THE BIG F
NO. Truck drivers of sewage trucks are NOT sanitation engineers.
An ANYTHING engineer requires completion of a 5 year degree in engineering from an accredited school and passing of a state exam for professional engineers and an apprenticeship period. Its not just a nice title for anyone to use.
Again, using the term engineer as part of ones title or job position without the state certification for an engineer is a felony offence.
I was merely offended by the mockery of my profession the first time. Was hopeful that a bit of education on the subject would turn it around. Now it is becoming personal. I suggest we drop this thread as the terms you used were wrong and derogatory to me and my profession that I take very seriously.
Sorry guys but the incorrect use of the title is just wrong. Has nothing to do with shingles or business cards. Mearly using the term as part of a job title. Its a perception problem that accreditation agencies and professional societies have worked for many years to correct. The laws are on the books in all 50 states and Federal.
Did you loose your sense of humor while you were getting all this professional training? I think this was a joke. Every profession is made fun of, if it offends, sorry.
I didn't realize job titles were such a sensitive topic. This was meant to be humorous.
Now: "An ANYTHING engineer requires completion of a 5 year degree in engineering from an accredited school and passing of a state exam for professional engineers and an apprenticeship period. Its not just a nice title for anyone to use."
This Is not quite accurate.
We also have Stationary engineers and Operating Engineers that are not within the scope of professional engineers, nonetheless, they are professionals with engineer in their official titles. So good luck telling the Interbational Union of Operating Engineers that they can't use engineer in their title.
While I disagree with the above posts and maintain both examples are not in compliance with current law here in Texas, continuing this discussion on a Spyder forum is of no merit. Lets agree to disagree. You find something humorous that I do not. Fine.
What's in a title .............................. Acknowledgement, Respect, Admiration, etc. Some folks are more protective of a title than others, some folks worked harder to get a title than others, i try to use a persons title when it warrants use.
