    Default Oil Problem

Need a little advice. I am in a town where there are no motor cycle dealers. I could use soMe oil. The only shop in town NAPA auto parts has Mobile 1 full synthetic 20w-50 motorcycle oil. Will this work in my 2013 RTL SE5? If not and considering that there are no BRP dealers in town, what other options would you consider?

The Mobile1 is full synthetic but is 20w-50. So your saying that it needs to be 5W-40.

But I am in a hotel in Oregon, and will be checking out on Sunday. So I don't think it will get here on time. But I appreciate the tip for when I get home.

If you're just topping off, any decent blended or full synthetic oil that is JASO rated MA or MA-2 will do you fine. Try to get something in the 10w-40 to 20w-50 range. 5w-40 is fine too but not all that common. It's the upper number that is most important. The lower number is only critical if you plan on starting your cold Spyder in sub-zero temps.

Try to find 10-40 oil. Mobil 1 and Amsoil both make it, but make sure it is rated for motorcycle use.

get the Mobil motorcycle oil and top off as needed. When you get home just do an oil change and remember to carry a qt when traveling. I carry one all the time cause you never know when this will happen...

You can also find the Rotella T6 at most WalMart stores, and many have the Valvoline Motorcycle Synthetic 10w40 as well.

A lot of people believe this but it is not true. Some do this at every oil change.

If I was in your situation I would top up with the 20W-50 if I could not find a 10W-40 motorcycle oil. Even when I got home I would not drain it early it will be fine. I would not use Rottela T6 as some have recommended. It is API rated SM and your owners manual contains a warning of clutch damage if you use this oil. From personal experience it will make the clutch slip and you have a better choice in hand.
