Default Oil Change Kits from BRP/Can-Am

Hey guys, going to do my first oil change so I went to the dealer where i bought the and asked for all the items I needed for the oil change kit. The kid looked at me like he had been huffing paint in the back for 30 minutes, said the service department does oil changes, and after asking another way I gave up. Not going to bother giving them anymore business if they can't put someone suitable to conduct it in the parts section. Long story short, BRP sells oil change kits. Many of you probably already know, but figured there was someone out there like me who didnt. They run $76 (+8 for shipping) on Ebay, that includes oil, o-rings, washers, instructions, etc. You can also get them from the BRP site, but they are $84(+17 for shipping). Just FYI, happy riding guys!

I never asked my dealer for a kit, but told him specifically what I need. Was unaware a kit was available.

Great deal on filters, I wonder how much it would run once I add Oil and everything else from the Cycle shop here. May have to compare, but Im sure your right, it probably is cheaper.

I use Amsoil so I only buy the filter and crush washers at my dealer but I did notice that they were selling the BRP Oil Change Kits. Didn't look at the price but I'm sure it was a bunch.

However, if you have an oil related motor, trans, or clutch failure and are not running BRP oil, right or wrong you may have quite the battle getting warranty work done.
Personally, I like the BRP oil. Its fairly inexpensive and actually does quite well. In the Seadoo world many have tried other oils but most have had the best results with the BRP oil and end up going back. This is in a platform that runs much harder than in a Spyder. [emoji106]

Holy Crap!! They were laughing all the way to the bank. My dealer charges $68.00 for the BRP oil change kit for a 998 SE5 and I think they charge about $25 or $30 labor. Not sure on the labor I buy the kit and change it myself. My next oil change I will buy my filters from Baja Ron and I have an Amsoil dealer 10 minutes up the road from me so I will get the oil there.

If this was the first oil change on your machine, chances are that the filter was not changed! Next time, try to do it yourself, or watch it being done on your bike.

Has there ever been a Spyder motor failure where it was verified that oil was the cause?

Not that I'm aware of. I guess that personally I'd be afraid of being the first....[emoji38]

I've always gone by the dealer/manufacturers recommended service while under warranty just to avoid those possible battles if something does go horribly wrong. Then outside of warranty I do my own thing.
