Mileage / Riding Statistics
I recently broke 40,000 miles on my Spyder. I was doing some thinking and was curious about some statistics.
Mileage as of today: 40414.7
Total Hours as of Today: 820.1
Ave Miles per hour: 49.28
I did some more figuring and cam up with this.
Total Months of Ownership: 20 months (30 day Month)
Total Miles Driven per Month: 2020.735
Total Days of Ownership: 618
Total Miles Driven per Day: 65.39
This time, I removed the 4 months of down time. Where I wasn’t riding the Spyder.
Total Months of Riding time: 16 months (30 day Month)
Total Miles driven per month: 2525.97
Total Days of Ride time: 489
Total Miles Driven per Day: 82.64

Wow. You must ride it to work every day.
-
WOW - very impressive
I do put more miles on my Spyder than any other motorcycle that I have owned. For me it is easier to get out of the garage and I feel allot safer riding among cagers - although I still ride as if I am invisible. Bigger foot print and lighting improves visibility and also not having to keep bike upright on two wheels all the time - days of low siding and high siding are behind me.
The last motorcycle I sold had around 7,500 miles and was 6 years old.

Good job Tony. I am trying hard to get 30K by 11-18 which would be one year. I have about 1400 miles to go. Here's hoping.
2008 GS SE5 in 2008
Traded at 43,000 miles for a left over
2010 RT SM5 in 2011
Traded at 57,000 for a left over
2014 RTS SE6 in 2015, which has 35,000 miles
Oct 19th, 2017, totaled 2014 RT while killing a Javaline
Dec 12th, 2017 drove a 2017 F3L home. What an awesome machine!
Never had any breakdown stranded issues.

6 gallon fuel tank???
Hello Folks,
Was wondering why I never get to fill the tank it seems. I have no fuel bars left and I go and fill up and only takes 3.5 gallons of fuel. Plus the manual says 87 octane minimum. Is it better to use 93 octane since we do ride hi performance machines?
Thanks,
Anthony

I run 87 octane in mine no issues. As far as filling it up. That has always been a big discussion. I always top mine off (many feel that is wrong) but I do it anyway. The most I have put in my tank has been 6.34 gallons. Of course, I try to run it until there are no bars left.

Gongrats on the mileage Tony, how is your bike running. Mine is running fine and I am at 26,157. I have had a few sensors and relays go out, but still love my spyder. I was at Pirate Powersports yesterday and he was saying I have a lot of miles since I only bought the bike in April of 08. I am still waiting for my 25,000 mile pin. Hope I see you at a ride soon. Ride safe.

Based on the above stats. I got to thinking. So
Mileage: 40414.7
Miles per gallon of gas: 32.8 (based on the last tank)
Total gallons of gas used: 1232.15
Total Cost: $3696.45 (based on $3.00 a gallon the average around here)
Cost of gas per month: $231.02 (16 months of Riding)
Cost of gas per month: $184.82 (20 months of Ownership)
Cost of gas per day: $5.98 (Based on Days of Ownership 618)
Cost of gas per day: $7.55 (Based on Day of Riding 489)
So when you look at $7.55 a day to have fun. The Spyder is well worth it. It will take a lot more math to figure out what the total cost of ownership is when you add in maintenance costs and insurance. (where is the Professor when you need him?). Those of you with less miles will find that it cost less.

First of all Congrats Blackwidow74!!
TJ I am not trying to steal any thunder here but I think I have over 27,000 on my spyder. I have never applied for a pin or anything though. I still don't have it back and I have been spyderless since we got back from Gatlinburg.
Glad to see our female high mileage ranks increasing!

No thunder stolen.
Sorry, I wasn't aware that you had more than 25,000 miles on your Spyder.
I too am glad to see the female ranks increasing both as ryders and in mileage.
I do feel your pain of being without the Spyder. Be patient, I am sure you will make up for the lost rides. once you get your Spyder back.

TJ,
Congrats on the mileage!!
Spyder owners rack up more miles in one year than anyone!!
I recently caught an award show at a bike dealer. They were honoring high mileage riders as they prepared to store their bikes for the season.
1st place went to a guy that hit 21k and third prize was a couple that together brought home 6.8k miles. I nearly spit my coffee out while reading it.
