Default Oil showing on dip stick now

Traded our 2012 RT for a new 2017 F3 this past May. Tired to read oil on dipstick following recommendations and exact instructions by BRP. Could never get a reading. Was told not to worry about it.Took bike in 3 weeks ago for 5000km oil change and check up. Tech took bike for a ride. When returned to check oil found no oil on dipstick. Put back in shop, drained oil and measured oil. All was fine. Redid oil change. Took for another ride. Same results. Put in case with BRP, did a partial tear down and found missing drive pin on small oil scavenge pump. Was never installed at factory. Installed and all is good. Sorry for long post. Thank you to the tech guy for caring and taking care of it.

You were fortunate to have a tech that followed through when he thought something wasn't quite right.

Total lack of QC and these engines are built by ROTAX in Europe???

I would be concerned what damage has been done to the engine running with a lack of oil or aerated oil at the main oil feed pump. With out the scavenger pump working, the main pump suction is starved for oil and much lower than desired oil pressure is achieved at operating RPMs. You should push BRP to add additional warranty coverage to your engine in case it was damaged by the incorrect build.
