Default Do Dealers charge for the BRP Connect update

Just wondering if the dealers charge for the update to the software on BRP connect or is that free. I am looking to buy but do not want to pay to have the software updated when new versions are released.

    Thanks

The dealer here (Colorado Springs) said that they would charge $50 for the update if I brought it in to get that done. Didn't seem right to me since the update fixed problems that should have been handled under warranty, but I just waited until the 3K service and got the done then as part of the service.

Doesn't sound right to me either.
It is likely to come up again later.
Maybe you should contact BRP now for a clarification.

    Default Really😲

If the update is one you do not need for the proper function but adds some feature you want I can see them charging a fee. If it is to repair of fix a known problem there should be no charge. Many updates are done when serviced that we don't even know about... I would check with BRP

They might be charging if you bring your Spyder in just to get the update. No different than if you bring it in and have them look at something in BUDS. I would contact BRP, but I would think it would be updated as part of a scheduled service for free. Generally that's when that would happen unless it's something they would require you to bring it in before a scheduled service. You would usually get a letter if that was the case.
I know with my Ford, the software for the entertainment system I can update myself it, or have the dealer do it. I'm surprised BRP didn't offer that option, but maybe they will later on down the road..

It does take time... and they should be compensated for it!

This is a WARRANTY SITUATION. Defects in software should be no different than defects in hardware.
If the dealer deserves payment, it should come from BRP.

I agree. The software won't worked as promised in the marketing hype.
