i would have never thought this thing could be so much fun
I have never been much of a biker. In my 49 years, I've ridden maybe 50 miles total on two wheels. I've had a passing interest here and there but never really into it for one reason or another. In fact, it was really just a passing interest in the Spyder as well. I always thought they were kinda cool looking, but not much more than that. Honestly, I really don't know what made me buy one, but if I were being honest, I was looking for a solution to my mid-life crisis and my purchase was pretty impulsive.
But, I gotta say I am so glad that I made that decisions! This thing has been an absolute joy and I am having so much fun! I really don't like driving and will always look for the shortest way home to my destination, but when riding my Spyder, I LOOK for the longest way to my destination. Earlier this evening, my wife sent me to the grocery store to get milk. The store is 1/2 mile from my home...I was gone for over two hours . Just riding around. It gives a totally different perspective of things. I am a pretty humble person, but I get such a kick out of the reactions that I get from most people. Strangers asking questions and complimenting it, kids waving, people just always checking it out. Wow. Just. Wow.
Sorry for the rave, but my close "circle" just wouldn't understand and I really had to let it out and I am sure most of you would understand the feeling.
Hear, Hear! Well said, and we both agree with you 100%. And I have rode cycles most of my almost 60 years.

You've got that right! Congrats and welcome to the Spyder community.
Hi Skeets I have been riding 55 years+ and it still feels just like you describe. We are into fall here and it is getting cold but I still ride to work most mornings and run any errand I can on the Spyder just as I did back in the 2wheel days. So get out there and ride, enjoy every mile, take every opportunity and welcome to the Spyder world and the motorcycle world.

Many of us have remarked how ryding a Spyder expands space and time. I hope you waited to buy the milk on your way home so it wouldn't spoil!
Skeets, your 'rave' is well understood and appreciated by the missus and I; we totally agree!! In fact, it seems to be a very familiar feeling to most on here. Wish it could be so for everyone. For us, it has become better and better each new ryde, and more and more of what we enjoy doing with our lives. Non-ryding days are a downer.

Glad for you. Enjoy the ride. Alas, it wasn't the same for me. I never really "took to it". My ST is now sold.
Have you regretted the sale every time you see someone enjoying their ride? Each of my bikes has me remembering the good times and for the wife and I, we are expecting to have many adventures on the Spyder!

No regrets. I so wanted to love it, I really did, but it just didn't rate high enough on the fun factor for me.
I have regretted selling a couple of bikes, and I even went back and bought a couple of Hondas from my riding beginnings, but came to realize that modern brakes, electrics, etc are way better nowadays.
Fantastic. I feel much the same way, I went on a 1 hour ride last Saturday and decided to just keep going, did an all day Saturday , stayed over night in Northern Arizona and then did all day Sunday. My wife said : " your just crazy! ". I will ride 50 miles to avoid a major road if at all possible, love getting away from traffic and highways.
