To the OP - I see people pulling the Harbor Freight trailers behind bikes and cars all the time. I can afford to buy whatever I want but if I were like most people who would only use a trailer like that once or twice I wouldn't waste $3000 for something that's gonna sit in the garage for 300 plus days a year. If I get one it will be one like the ones posted with a spare tire and an eye on the amount of weight and it's intended use. That being said if I you plan on using it a lot I would spring for one of the plus or minus $1000 ones made in the US and with diamond plating.
I would rather pull a Harbour Freight trailer than something covered in diamond plate. Yuck!!!!!
If I was buying a trailer, I'd be looking for these features:
1. 12" wheels Preferably aluminum.
2. Independent twin torsion axle suspension
3. LED lighting
4. A nice, long trailer tongue, to make backing it up less difficult (It's actually NEVER easy! )
5. A trailer tongue stand for the unit
6. A flat bottom, with at least 16 cubic feet of capacity.
7. A rack up on the top of it, for additional places to carry stuff.
8. Color-matching would be nice...
Or am I completely out in Left Field, and it's raining on me?
Has anyone used the heavy duty Harbor Frieght trailer behind a Spyder? Could mount a couple car top cargo carriers for a fraction of the price of a RT 622. I like long trips and there just isn't enough cargo provisions.
Thoughts welcome

I was trying to be funny, don't get your panties in a twist please! I got my trailer as a leftover in 10 so I didn't pay full price either. I've put over 90,000 miles on it and I'm pretty sure I could sell it for a good price today.
I'll say it one more time, I was kidding!!! How could I be considered snobbish my trailer is black and my Spyder is white, one has black wheels and the other has chrome.

Up until you said that we couldn't ridden together, but now that I know the whole dark truth about you it's completely out of the question! I'll bet the leather in your riding gloves doesn't match the leather in your jacket!!!

I've seen Spyders towing logsplitters; anything is possible!
Rather than dive into the argument over aesthetics; I'll just say that I've never heard anybody complain about how their 622 or Freedom trailers towed.
I like my HF Tag-Along well enough to not spend ($$$$ how much??? $$$$) on something else. I saved enough money to go to the beach and have a nice time.
When I had a red Spyder it matched real nicely. Bought a newer Spyder and oh well, the trailer is staying red for now.
For the one or two times a year I use it on a trip plus the short shopping trips around town it serves me perfectly. If I was full time ryding my Spyder around the country I might want a matching trailer.
Whatever floats your boat or helps you make up for your insufficient body parts.

Mmm-mmm. If your going to pull a cheap Harbor Freight Trailer please park out back where the garden
tools are!

I have to agree with you but you will have to agree with Ann also that some "homemade" trailers are rather funky (not all, just a few).

Some people have the skills & knowledge to keep a home made reasonable & legal for road use. Fyi nice but not a bike trailer
But with the tongue weight restrictions of a spyder it would be ez to exceed & not know it. Bike trailer: guy said was a HF build "with few additions". & Royal PITA to get registered & legal.

Before and after pictures of the trailer that I build. I now have a RT 662 trailer and like it a lot better.

I knew that you were going to get flamed for that (UPPITY) comment, , but I have to agree with you in that I have seen some "homemade Trailers" and wondered what they were thinking of when they made them (not necessarily referring to the harbor freight trailer).
