 GPS
I have a 2014 ST-Limited and I have a concern about the GPS that came with it. Right now, there is a 70% chance of rain on Wednesday when I leave for Spyderfest---I wondering if I need to put a plastic baggy over it to protect it from the rain?

I rode in the rain yesterday. My Garmin 660 is supposed to be weather tight, but I still slipped a baggy over it. Better safe than sorry. Use a couple rubber bands to hold the baggy in place. Don't want it to fly off.

Which GPS do you have ?
Is it a Garmin Zumo ? 660, 665, 590 ?
You do not need a bag for any of the Zumo GPS models. They are designed for motorcycles and are weather proof. You can even toss them in a bucket of water (not that you need to do that).

I agree, but I've got this thing about electronics in the rain. I would gladly advise you that you don't need any additional protection, but I would still go the extra mile to protect my investment. A 2 cent baggy can save me hundreds of dollars.

For what it's worth, I've ridden thousands of miles in the rain and I use my Garmin Zumo 660 all the time. I have never had a problem with water.
2020 Chalk, RT Limited, Dark and matching RT622 trailer and BRP hitch. BRP Drivers Backrest, Auxiliary Light, Garmin Zumo XT, GPS Support, RT Rear Panel and Travel Cover. It is always to be safe than sorry! What is the ole saying, an ounce of protection is worth........ Our group will be doing a long distance in the near future, and a baggie and rubber bands will hitch a ride along with me.

Nobody likes to get electronics wet but really if it is raining you got more to worry about than the device...... Its replaceable worry bout the road. Baggies & bands help & always handy to have just in case, just be safe lets ALL have a SAFE & happy spyderfest

Don't worry about it. Hours driving in the rain. Never remove it to wash with sponge and soapy water. Rinse with garden hose. The only trouble I have ever had is the Dealership took it off to wash the Spyder. Got water in the mount and it took aweek to dry out and work right again. Never have heard of zumo 660 leaking before.

The short answer is 'no', but if it makes you feel better to put a raincoat on it go ahead. I have used weatherproof rated Garmin products outdoors in all conditions for years with no problems.

Don't worry about. The Garmin will be a lot better than you after riding a full day in the rain. Due to its location while you are moving very little water even hits it while you are moving. I don't even remove or cover my cell phone when it starts to rain and it is certainly not designed to get wet and never had an issue with that either.
