• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Zumo 665

The only change was to add an XM receiver.

More than that, more detail and
With the addition of XM NavWeather®, you can access up-to-the-minute weather data and NEXRAD radar graphics from your map screen to stay ahead of the storm.

Expected

Completely and totally expected. They took this unit months ago and rebranded it as an aircraft navigation portable, the Aero.

Just a matter of time before they trickle it down and make their previous unit have the features those who have it wanted. With no upgrade pathway.

Garmin is notorious for this and charging top dollar as well.

I would settle for a pass through of the iPhone music. It takes the contacts via BT so why not the rest. But that would not make them more money.

YES!!!!! W00T!

Dang. That is what the 660 was missing! I've been toying with the idea of buying a droid or Google phone for GPS, MP3, and phone...or an iPhone for the XM dock, MP3, and phone. Now this gives me a weather proof option for what amounts to a bit more coin, but worth it in the end. Now I can toss the idea of buying that Harley branded XM weatherproof radio.

Sweet.

Yup. Part of the point of adding XM was to replace their MSN traffic and information reporting that was to expire sometime soon (2010?).

The 660 will still provide FM traffic reporting but not this sophisticated weather reporting which I believe is far more important on bikes and Spyders than for cars.

It is interesting the way folks attack Garmin.

I wonder why they don't attack RCA and GE for not introducing 60" digital color 3D flat panel TVs in 1945. We were thrilled with our 10" B&W RCA when we got it in 1948. Products evolve . . . They don't magically show up with all the eventual features on the first, second or hundredth iteration. No more than the Spyder has.

I could care less about the XM, Bluetooth, etc., but I have been waiting for them to get the NEXRAD weather stuff moved over from the aviation units. I may be old and out of date, but I have a practical streak.

From what I've been reading it will be a $10.00 a month fee.

Typical, but it could be worth it. Nice to see that stuff on radar. The WX radio channels can only give you so much info. A friend takes his aviation unit in his van, and it is very helpful at times.

I got to tell you, after traveling cross country a couple of times now with the iphone I use the radar on Weather Bug Elite all the time at my gas stops. It's not as handy as having it on the GPS but it's saved me from heading into some bad weather more than once. I sat out that storm that flooded out Indy and Kentucky on my trip out to Sturgis. Let's just say I won't be selling my 600 any time soon just to get the 665 but I would have bought it if I had the choice. :doorag:

It's a great feature but in 6 months, they'll have something better out. When I got my 550, it was the latest and greatest...then the 660, now the 665?...and so on...I won't be replacing my 550...I love it! As far as instant weather/radar, I'll just check wherever I'm going on the big picture (weatherunderground) and check on the iphone whenever I stop. I'm not riding enough around the country to worry about instant weather reports...it is really cool though!
