• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Does anyone know if a Zumo 590 will fit in the existing Garmin OEM mount on the 2014 RT? Thank you for responding.

I was looking into this the other day. The cradles look similar, but according to the GPS City "Community Forum" the answer is no - the cradles are slightly different. Here's the post I saw.

That said, it does look like the 590 cradle would attach to the Can Am mounting bracket. In other words, the four mounting holes would likely line up. So you'd have to remove some tupperware and wire in the new cradle. I don't know if any modification of the harness would be necessary, but if so, I would think that it could be done easily enough.

However the Zumo 590 is a 5" screen and the 660 screen is only 4.3". The questions is... Will the larger Zumo 590 fit between the RT handlebars? I don't know the answer, as I did not look at the overall dimensions.

Sure would be nice if it all worked. The user interface on the 590 is a generation apart from the older 660 and is wonderful to work with. I have the new interface on the RV 760LMT that I use in my motorhome, and I love it.

Thanks to you and Bob for your responses. FYI, my BMW Nav V fits in the mount on the 2014 RT and it is a 5" screen. My motivation is that the 590 accepts the Garmin TPMS and I would like to get metal valve stems installed and use that system.

Yes, that's also a nice feature of the 590LM. And you can buy the GPS and the TPMS together as a kit.

Other nice feature include lifetime map upgrades, the look-ahead feature (tells you what's up ahead on your route and it's customizable), and the phone-link feature (where you can get current weather maps and more by linking your GPS and smartphone together).

Bob,

You are correct. I measured. (Not that I actually doubted you for a second, mind you.) The physical width of the 590 is actually 0.18" less than the 660. They got the larger diagonal measurement on the screen by adding almost half an inch in height.

This IS starting to get interesting. But I've spent way too much money on this machine for now. :(

But.... Christmas is coming.
