There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. ZMax Engine Formula

Is it safe to use ZMax Engine Formula during an oil change?

Hello. My name is Timothy. Long time stalker, first time poster. Quick question because attempts to search for answers have proved futile.

Regarding the oil requirements to prevent clutch slippage, would it be safe to use the ZMax Engine Formula during my oil change? I'm currently using Castrol Power RS Racing 4T.

In case anyone asks, I've been bitten by a 2012 RS.

My only question is if you think the motor oil you are using needs some sort of additive in addition to what the lubrication engineers put in it from the supplier,

Are you using the right oil to begin with?

Too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the stew. Stick with one lubrication expert you have some faith in and don't mix them. Your guessing is never going to approach the level of perfection the original suppliers of major brand lubricants were specified to meet.

:agree: with JC...
If the oil is right to begin with; you're just adding...

I would not do it. Especially on a 998 which has a very particular clutch. Put your money into a good oil with a JASO MA2 rating and sleep well at night. There are so many other good things you can spend you money on and not risk engine/clutch issues. Even if Z-Max works I doubt you'd see any difference over a good quality oil.

Oh, and you might want to add the most likely vote 'I Don't Know' to your poll. I think we will need a Canary to be sure on this one.

Don't know. ..!!

Gets my vote....I always use factory recommended oils unless I rebuild to different specs. I have the same model and year with 32,000 miles no issues and we ryde hard and for the most part double up.

This makes total sense. Thanks for that insight.

In going to their website I see that it specifically leaves out any mention of Motorcycles/ATV/UTV. It states that it soaks into the metal so it does not raise your oil level. These are all red flags to me saying it will make your wet clutch slip like crazy. My vote is a decided "NO"

JASO MA2 should be good enough.

Looked up a lot of oil information last year & found JASO ratings were made specifically for wet clutches. The oil that you are using is one of them that I researched & should be just fine by itself. And it is the weight that BRP recommends and is full synthetic. If you feel the clutch is slipping then you may want to try XPS, also without adding anything to it.

Squeeky hinge!!!

Use this stuff on a squeeky hinge:roflblack:---- not on an expensive motor /clutch system.

Kaos
