There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How can I tell the year of my Ryker?

Hi All, I bought my Ryker Sport in December 2024, yet my handbook says 2023

Date of first registering was 1 Jan, 25. Where on Ryker Sport is the VIN?

I think my Ryker is a 2023 machine, but it should be a 2024

I've not read anything about 2024 Rykers, but I did see a 2024 hand book for sale on E Bay

How can I tell the year of my trike??

Please

If you just open the book you've got already, it will tell you exactly where the plate is located that has the VIN, year, and model on it.
Look in the INDEX for VIN number plate, or just flip through the manual. It is not that long.

On a 2024 Can-Am Ryker, the VIN is on a metal plate or stamped on the frame on the right side of the vehicle, generally located on a flat part of the frame facing the RF wheel, near the suspension's A-arm. The year of manufacture is often on the same VIN plate or sticker. For the most precise location, refer to your Ryker's owner's manual, which details the VIN and manufacturer date location for your specific model.

That is where the web says it is for the newer Ryker. If you don't find it there try this:

That is from the 2019 Ryker Handbook I downloaded and read in 2019 when I was deciding which model to buy.

I've found the VIN Plate on my bike says date 02/23 - seems I've bought a '23 made bike at '24 prices and first reg as a '25,
which is very annoying, but I don't think I can do anything about it.

May be annoying, but if the only thing they changed over 2 or 3 years was maybe a paint color or some minor chrome piece, it would not make much difference in what you ended up with.

On any vehicles I usually look for unsold previous year model. I do expect a discount because I am not getting the latest model, and you didn't get that.

If it is registered as a 2025, then it is officially a 2025 and has not depreciated any more than the 2025 Rykers.

Hi Gwolf
Yes. its registered as a 25 on a 74 plate,
one thing I have noticed, it did not have the small fuel funnel in right hand cover.
On asking dealer, he said they don't put them in anymore, is that right?

It could not have had a 74 plate on it. Rykers were introduced in 2019.
If it had a 74 plate the plate was an old one off of something else.

I think "74 plate" means something different in the UK (registered between Sept 2024 & February 2025) than it does to us over here.

I hope so, because here the plate is the license tag on the back. It could mean a metal plate attached to the frame with info stamped in it I guess.

Might be something to do with decoding the VIN. There is website for that. CAN AM VIN DECODER

Google says:

A UK '74 plate' indicates a vehicle was first registered between September 2024 and February 2025. The '74' is the age identifier in the UK's bi-annual vehicle registration system, where the numbers change in March and September.

Google says:
Makes sense. The information on the VIN decoder says 10th digit in VIN indicates the year of build.

But this is for USA and Canada Only. Other countries would have their own system.

The 10th digit of a Can-Am VIN indicates the vehicle's model year. This is the same standard used for all vehicles built since 1981.
Here is how the 10th-digit code corresponds to the model year:
  • 1980–2000: The model year is represented by a letter from A to Y (skipping I, O, Q, U, and Z).
  • 2001–2009: The model year is represented by a number from 1 to 9.
  • 2010–present: The alphabet was restarted, so A represents 2010, B is 2011, and so on.

The Internet is not always correct, but it says that the Can Am VIN decoder will give the history and details of any Can Am vehicle worldwide, regardless of country.of origin.
Might try putting the VIN number in it and see what comes out......

What does your ownership say, it should have the year on that?
If the ownership says '23 and the bill of sale says '24, there is a problem.
Also did you buy it from a dealer or privately?
Did they sell it to you as a '24?
I bought my '22 Sport from a dealer in '23.
It is registered as a '22.

So there are two years to consider. Arguably the most important one is the MY date. That is the Manufactured Year as opposed to the year it was first registered. It is common to purchase a vehicle in one year, say - 2025, only to find out it is a 2022 MY. You need to find this out prior to purchase. Usually the giveaway is the price. The closer it is to the MY date the more you pay.

Having said that, Rykers haven't had much in the way of updates since 2022, so it's a moot point if you buy a 2022+ in 2025. If you go online and compare the features and colours of your vehicle you can easily spot the MY year, especially if it's a Rally.

Hope this is helpful
