And, I only rode it to the office 2 days last week.
Yesterday was as perfect a day as one could expect. My Wife and I rode 164 miles. Today is the Shiloh Civil War Park run. That will be 300+ miles. Next week, the Spyder goes in for it's first service.
It has been just amazing! And, yesterday was 'meet and greet' with everyone that saw my Spyder, too. It was nuts! But, what fun!
Yesterday was also the first time, I actually got the Spyder on a 70mph highway, too. WOW! Oh! I've been near 90mph during the past week. But, this; this was sweet! We got on I-40 heading toward Nashville off of Highway 59, and just took off. Right up to 75mph, tucking in a couple of hundred yards behind a semi. It was a bit drafty. So; I went into the left lane, and sat the Spyder on 79mph easing by the big rig.
The torque in that range is just fantastic, too! Just rolling the throttle at 80mph simply launches the Spyder, you, and your passenger. Amazing! I think, that if I were to downshift into 4th at that speed, it would just launch into Hyperspace!
After getting around the big rig, we eased into the right lane, and just cruised. And, guys and girls; when I said a 'perfect day', I'm talking 77-85 degrees. After a minute of so; an SUV came blasting by us, probably traveling 88-90mph. I moved over to the left lane after he was clear 50 or so yards, and just rolled the throttle. 90mph came up fast! What a rush!! :2thumbs:
And, my Wife digs the speed, too! :yikes: We ran probably 20 miles or so toward Nashville exiting at Highway 76 to head back towards our place. It is a gorgeous 2 lane run down 76 to Somerville. Lots of openess, and areas that are more wooded, as well. Getting into Somerville, and catching Highway 64 west takes us toward home. It's about 9 miles. And, the speed limit reaches 65mph.
We had a get together last night to enjoy a very good friend's birthday, have some good beer, and play some music. My buddy is the guitarist in our little band. His girlfriend (my Wife's best friend) plays rhythm guitar, and I play drums. My son plays bass, but he was busy last night. So; e made do.
So; before heading back to the house to swap the Spyder for my Frontier (too much to carry for the Spyder), we headed to the local meat market (the owner rides a Gold Wing) for some strips, and potatos. Then; off to the liquor store. It was going to be an evening of great friends, music, and...... wait for it.......... Jagermeister! :clap:One of the employees at the liquor has a gorgeous Harley. So; they all came out, along with a couple of other customers to check out the Spyder for the first time.
When we left the liquor store, the Spyder's trunk contained these items:
My Wifes riding jacket
Wife's gloves
2 bottles of water
ball cap
5 NY Strips
5 baked potatos
1/5 Jagermeister
22oz. bottle of Stone Brewery 'Ruination IPA'
magnum of Turning Leaf White Zinfandel
Slime Power Sport Tire Inflator / Slime plug kit
But; we still needed to go home, let out the dog, and get some other beer. While my Wife got ready to go to our little gathering, I wiped down the Spyder, and helmets in preparation for today's ride.
Our friends place is just 2 miles away. So, it makes for a nice evening. We wrapped it up at about 11:00pm. And, I was up at 5:30 this morning out checking the Spyder's tire pressure, and getting things ready for today. :doorag:
This is going to be a great day! ZZ (Tim) is going on the ride today, as well. We are thinking there will be around 20+ bikes; including several Victory's (our dealer is the area's Victory dealer, as well), a couple HDs, and Hondas, etc,,,.
You all have a great day! And, ride safe!!
