• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Decided early Mon. to make a 4+ hr ryde to CDA, ID to take my grandson to coffee before he heads back to College. As you remember I was asking about how to fix my saddle bag that continues to open (mostly at freeway speed)...tech had already adjusted once..ok yesterday headed home..dang thing falls open, I'm in left lane of one way going 75..lots of a.m. traffic..have to get across 3 lanes to shoulder to stop and close without causing: A an accident and B losing my soft bag with all my necessary "stuff" which is laying on open lid.
..ok get that done look up and I am by exit that will take me out to dealer/service..duh, where I am NOW heading..get there..tell problem and say not leaving until you have answer...tech calls BRP...no answer... I said not my problem..this is not safe, I spend to much time looking in my mirrors (he says don't your "hatch" open lites come on...I said NOPE never have (ahhh another thing to fix)...anyway he has me describe when this most frequently happens...freeway speed..lumps/bumps/twisties very seldom...he says I think it is a tension problem...opens lid...does something to check the locking/hooking mechanism...won't hold easily tripped...so while he says defective need new parts...I said I ain't leaving until that sucker stays shut I don't care if you have to superglue it...he laughs and says: Karyl I get it...we either make you a bed in showroom or get you patched until parts arrive...so what did he do? He shortened the spring...now I have to assist it open...but hey I rode 4 hrs. home and nothing opened. Happy Dance...
So just in case anyone has a similar issue...ignore BRP's answer (which was a never had a problem/don't know answer)...there is an answer....

Congratulations!

And thanks for providing the update... all too often, we get posters here in the forum who throw a problem out here or a complaint about their service, and they unfortunately never follow-up with the resolution.

It's just as important for we owners to know when problems are SOLVED as it is to know when they are identified!

Safe riding :doorag:

So glad you got it fixed. I have to push on mine while pulling the lever in order to open them which is kind of a pain but I've never had mine fall open on the road. I believe the only warning light is for the rear cargo door nothing for the front trunk or side compartments.

The alarm is for any of the rear luggage, side or top.

Thanks for the update information. Glad you got your problem solved. Emotions arent working on this post--so I have to leave it plain.

Adjustment

The latches for both side cases have a cable with a threaded adjuster on it just by the rear tail lights. The back panel has to come off but that is not hard. A couple of screws on each side and the ones up top under the top case lid. I also sprayed lubricant into the latches to free things up. It seems that the lids need slamming to close but the top case just gets a nudge or gentle push to latch tight.
