Y-gaskets - an alternate opinion

We just got back from a trip to Glacier Park in Montana and on the return trip we stayed in Stanley, Idaho. We awoke to a temperature of 39F and it wasn't until we got to Utah did the temp reading climb to 55F. I couldn't have been happier for every BTU that escaped the Y-gasket. Mind you, my opinion on this subject will change drastically when I get back to Phoenix.

Oh...that is exactly what I'm afraid of happening....get Y gaskets changed out, all of Spypops stuff installed...any and everything done to stop the heat and here comes winter...I'll be wanting the heat back....

I can relate to the temps up that way.

Many years ago I lived in a small town in Idaho called Soda Springs.

I have heated clothes (vest & gloves) and I live between Houston and Galveston...I just get so cold when ryding...I have always (past 16 years) been a passenger...now I have my Spyder...I was hoping for some heat off the engine to help keep my feet warm.

Sad thing is, you can probably buy new ones there cheaper than it would cost me to ship these to you.

Now I see a real advantage to living in Alaska this summer. I did not need any warm weather clothes. I wore my leather jackets, and bulky firstgear textiles (sometimes with the liners in) all but 3 or 4 days this summer. If this keeps up, I may have warm weather gear for sale next year, cheap. :gaah:
