• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Talked to a Garmin dealer today and he told me that for those that are getting the XM and GPS you will be able to receive traffic alerts with a subscription through the same antennae.

Can anyone confirm that?

And since I'm a smart ass and I am sure someone will confirm this but also let me know that I can't trust their opinion. :D

The new 665 Zumo has XM standard and comes with the XM antenna. You might want to wait for the 665 which will be out any day now if you want XM and traffic alerts.

660 traffic alerts

I have a different Garmin 775 that has traffiic alerts.

If it is available in your area/the area you are in.

If you are riding in a busy california area it will probabley work.

If you are in a small town in Oregon, it may not be available, even though that stretch of the 5 fwy maybe backed up for 45 minutes.

It depends on where you are.

I would think that they work the same being that they are on the same satillite.

I pulled up the specs of the 2 units 600 and 650 and the only difference I saw was that the 650 will say the name of the street everything else was equal. Both are FM traffic capable. Also on the box "specific Spyder features for download on the internet"

thanks for the help

Sounds like since I am getting XM I will be able to get the traffic alerts. Already have the 660 unboxed and ready to install so I will await my XM unit.

As always you good information here.:D

Spyder will be at the dealer's shop on Tuesday morning and we are going to do all the work we can until he gets the XM and CB since they have to plug in near the back of the Sypder and we don't to have to tear it down twice.
