• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wow ! The future is here !!!

CTA Presents Can-Am Spyder Electric Concept Vehicle...

While I am less than a year into SPYDER ownership, I think it is kinda of neat that CAN-AM is going towards new technology. I think demographically younger folks are not taking to vehicles like my generation did, especially in the motorcycle arena. Going electric just gives BRP another edge over the competition. Bombardier is having a tough go of it in their aero industry segment, so seeing them coming out with a new technology gives me a bit more confidence in our product producer. I haven't really heard anything from the majors in the motorcycle world yet, but I don't stay on top of it like I use to.

Go get em BRP

The pursuit of technological advancement is both good and necessary. You just never know what advancements may make it into production. Take the pursuit of a self driving car and the advancement in safety features that are available in today's automobile. The only way an electric mc/trike makes it to market is if it:
a. has a range of 200 miles in real world conditions,
b. adequate rapid charging infrastructure.
c. is price competative
In my mind, the Electric Concept Spyder in its current form is the equivalent of the Nissan Leaf. Where it needs to get to is the soon to be released Chevy Bolt or the Tesla Model S. It's all about advancement in battery pack technology, and that cost money.
Quite frankly, I'm surprised that the alternative focus isn't on improving the already pretty efficient gas powered enges in todays mc/trikes. The areas that come to my mind are:
1. Start-Stop technology,
2. Hybrid power with regenerative braking, and
3. Blind Spot monitoring and Lane Keeping technology
All this "green" and safety technology add complexity to the platform which both increases cost to build and maintain, and potentially decreases reliability. The riding public will ultimately decide

I would buy it in a second as long as it had 200 mile range for when I get lost going to the corner store

I have the same problem getting home from work, wife even got me GPS. A little tweeking might get a 200 mile range. I have to say that it would need to be somewhat reasonably priced, to get most
people to take a chance on it though.

Just sayin'............
