• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Would you try Taking Spyder through a car wash?

No way!!!

The high pressure is not good, and neither are the harsh chemicals used in car washes.

Rinsing with water only is ok, in the manual bay. Care has to be taken with the pressure wand though.

I have taken many bikes to hand held high pressure car washes for years when on multi day rides. Bugs, rain etc on long rides need to be taken care of. Have not had any issues thus far. Just recently while riding the Three Sisters roads, ran into the Southern migration of the Monarch butterflies and windshield and grille was covered. Going through the Mid West were grasshoppers. High pressure car wash to the rescue. Not to mention one day in heavy rain to clean up.

I was looking forward to something like Clint, Clyde, and the motorcycle gang. Instead, I saw a clean Spyder, kind of. :roflblack:

I'm not so sure I'd do that, but to each their own, as the saying goes. I do, however, use the handwash high-pressure wash frequently because I can control it much more easily. The one feature I like is the hand held blow dryer to blow off all the excess water.

I have used the Wands for years. If you don't pull the trigger, you get low pressure. I only pull the trigger in areas that need the pressure to knock off the bugs. Otherwise low pressure is fine.
I would not put my Spyder in the Automatic wash bay ever.

Real world experience shows different, Albec. Sure, I wouldn’t take my Spyder “through” a car wash, but I, and quite a few mates, use the full wash bays and cleaning chemicals, and have done for years with zero issues. Of course the pressure wands are used “judiciously” around electrical parts:thumbup:

It's a big, fat NO from me. Too many expensive electrical items (especially the handlebar controls) I don't want to get pressure-washed, and car wash water is notoriously poorly filtered & gritty.

I watched a nice new looking Spyder RT being pulled out of a car wash like the one in the video. As the tow driver pulled it up onto the flat bed and secured
it down, I talked to the Spyder Owner, a very nice lady. She said when she got on to ride it away, all the dash was not working and the switches and buttons did not work. She was having it taken to the dealer.

I am betting all the electronics are toast. If they are, they may as well just part it out and start over.
