There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Would you Buy 2013 RT (new)?

We noticed that a lot of 2013 Rt are available. With all the recalls & updates that have been done are they a good buy? Are they safe?

What do you think.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I 2013 would be good to roast a pig but that is about it. it is too hot to be comfortable, getting 1 degree burns on your inner thighs.

Yesterday, I saw my dealer had a new 2013 RT Limited SE6, which includes a 622 trailer for sale for $24,000 and I would not buy it.

Nope. You are taking a chance. You could get a hot bike. :yikes: You just don't know. BRP has yet to come up with a good fix like they have on the 2013 ST.

:agree: I could have bought a 2013 cheaper, but opted for a 2014 instead.

When I bought my 2014 RT, the local dealers had NEW 2012s and 2013s. The 2013s were priced significantly BELOW the price of the 2012s - the 2012s were only slightly less than the price I paid for my 2014.

The 2013 RT LTD was priced below the asking price for a 2014 RT SM Base... If you want to roll the dice, you can save really big bucks, but you better plan on having your very own collector's item.

18,500 and so far have not had significant (nothing warranty didn't fix) problems with my 2013. Heat issue no more than 2 wheeler on a hot day. I think if you can get over that there might be a heat problem 2013's are a good buy. Problem being when you want a new Spyder trade in value might bite you in the :cus:.

Knowing what we all now know about the 2013s; I'd buy one ONLY if I couldn't find a 2014...
They ARE that good!

That's not to say that the 2013s can't make for a VERY nice ride also!

And you wonder why, even those of us that have NOT had significant heat issues, are upset with our good faith purchase of a 2013 model? And BRP owes us nothing? Not even an explanation? (Sound of crickets!) :sour:

If the price was right

This coming weekend we will be able to Sew on our 15K patches (thanks Ken) and I have to say that we have had nothing but joy from our RTL. We have met great folks, been to some awesome places ,and have found a new appreciation for places we have been too countless times before. So if I found a Great buy from a dealer I trusted, I would buy another 2013.

I'd stay as far away from a 2013 as possible. Too many of them seem to have gone up in smoke.
And I can tell you from firsthand experience....the new 2014 is superior in almost every way.
I'm even pleased I had to go with Bluetooth headsets.

The 2014 is fantastic but if you could buy the 2013 cheap enough so that you could add elka shocks, bajaron sway bar, and cat delete pipe (to remove the 40# blast furnace that creates much of the heat) then it would be a solid ride.. If you have the bucks then 2014 will make you much happier.....

For sure..!!

I would without hesitation. The prices are fantastic the number of problems are not as great as it would seem. I have many fellow ryders on them without problems at all. But it is a choice...I understand all those who shout out no!! especially those who had/have problems. My opinion carries little weight cause I am not an RT kinda guy. I am confident there will be more solutions for those problem units..jmo

I have a 2013 RT-s and a 2014 RT-s and I wish I never bought the 2013. Waste of money and you have to put a grand or more into it to get a bike you can ride when it's over 90 degrees. Even then you have the 998 motor and the low gas mileage and range.

Yes!

I bought an RTL last month and love it. I did have some initial overheating (limp mode) issues but our dealer replaced the thermostat and the inpeller at no charge. Since then, no issues whatsoever. I did purchase the bajaron sway bar and will be installing it before I take it to Yellowstone next month. Other than that, I love it. It isn't great on gas but I like to stop every 100 miles anyway to stretch. So far, so good.

And....with the rebates we received, I was able to purchase a matching trailer without breaking the bank.

Hope that helps.

NO don't buy! Unless you buy my 2013 RTL

Before I purchased the 2013 last July I read about all the improvements over the 2012 as far as tires, suspension, etc. I live in Texas and had no idea how hot I would get riding a $29,000 CanAm. The heat is the biggest problem but there are others. I did not like the vibrations from the drive belt. It was hard to get used to the high rpms in 5th gear, always feels like you need a 6th gear. Recently, I added the Baja Ron sway bar, cat bypass, laser align, fan block on left side and it is still hot! Drives great but still no fun in August. Even added the foot pegs in order to get my feet away from the heat but I can still feel it.

So, my $29,000 (paid less) is now worth $17500.00 trade. I have 3000 miles on spyder, spent $2000 on improvements and can't wait to see if there are any good deals on the 2014 when the 2015's arrive. It will cost me $10,000 to trade but may be worth it. I like the concept of the spyder and it is perfect for me if it only lived up to what I expected when I purchased it. I understand motorcycles are hot, especially in Texas in August, but come on, did anyone test the unit?
