• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I want something to direct the heat off my right foot/leg. I have the Spiderpop cover on top and one of my making on the bottom as well as the catalytic covers.

Despite this, too much heat...to suit me...still radiates around these and onto my leg/foot.

What I'd like to know from users of the Fan Can is, does it significantly redirect the air out the bottom? And how hard is it to install?

Yes. I do have the Fan Can and it is combined with SpyderPops LaBlock. That combo works REALLY well for me. We had some very hot MoGang rides this past summer in triple digits and I had no heat issues.

Steve, thanks for the ref. Thats what I was looking for. Do I understand correctly that one only needs to remove the tupperware, along with bending that tab, to install the Can?

Secondly, who sells it? I've searched all around and can't seem to find the dealer.

Correct. And not all agree that tab needs to be bent, but I fought with it for a long time trying to get it in per the instructions. That bend helped me get it in in a few minutes! And I don't think it compromised the integrity of the product.

I have been riding with Spyderpop's shield ever since Maggie Valley last year. Like you, I still have some issues with hot air getting out and onto my foot somehow:(. If you figger out a solution, let us know.

We have tried them all on our RT's.... from SpyderPops blockers and shields, Vertica ram airs, Avon deflectors.....

Nothing works better than the Baker air wings. You can deflect as much of the heat as you wish.

The only word I fully understand when reading the above is "yes". Which is strange because I'm usually pretty good with the English language, being a native speaker.

It appears you are a Fan Can Clan Man. Am I on the right lines? :roflblack:

Still mulling over whether I want to put a Fan Can on or not, but in the meantime, yesterday I glued some foam around the edge of the radiator cover, on the rear side, to close off heat escaping via cracks not blocked by the SpiderPop cover, and also took some very soft foam....the white/yellowish stuff like you see at Walmart...and cut some strips and tucked them around the edges of the Spiderpop cover. ( If you hold you hand down there while riding you'll find a lot of hot air blows around the edges. )

You can see the white foam and it ain't pretty but guess what? IT WORKED. Rode over 200 miles today, a lot on interstate with my feet proped on the black plastic air flow thingie down there, and it was more comfortable than I expected. If I can find some foam in black and glue a good strip all around basically in the inside with some lapping over to seal the cracks, I think I will be satisified. Also I might add some insulation on the inside of the Spriderpop cover.

For those who might worry about using the black plastic things for foot rests, you can take a strip of metal, drill two holes to match the existing screw and plastic grommet that holds it on, replace the grommet with a small bolt, and that firms it up nicely. You'll need a longer screw.

I have been looking at the Baker Air Wings. I notice that they now have two versions for the RTS. Original and New/Improved. One is available is several colors and the other is only available in light/dark and clear tint. Is the shape different? Please let me know which ones you all have, please.

Hehehe - Steve, Steve, Steve! ...Awww, nothin'. I saw the reply from the folks that liked the Baker Air Wings and I've been looking at them as well. The Fan Can would be cheaper, though. After what I've spent this year on performance, trailer and acc's, lighting mods, helmets and rYding gear... now I'm starting consider price? LOL!

Heat

What a shame, BRP can't make it correctly after several years and we have to pay to make it right......don't seen right to me.

I have the Fan Can only on my 2010 RT....no more on leg/foot...but beware, not a super-simple install (but not a huge job)
 
On my RS I had the Fan Cam and SpyderPops items. Loved it. On my RT I currently have the shield on the right side from SpyderPops. I plan on adding the baker wings and the Fan Cam at SpyderFest. I love BBQ but not my own leg.:bbq:

Kevin just wants to save his money for MORE lights. No one can miss him!!
 
i have a 2011 RS-S and cannot attest to the fan cam but have the full Spyderpops system on the way:
missing air damn
missing heat shield
air management system

will give a report once it gets here and installed.

parts of last summer were BAD cause when i would get stuck in traffic it got ROUGH.
once i was on the interstate at rush hour and actually came to a total standstill.
i went off to the side and turned her off so i could walk around a bit to cool off - in 105 degree weather - by walking some.
then got back on and hit next exit for a LARGE water and a pint of beer while she was parked in the shade.

i know you don't want to wait until summer for me to give a 'real' comparison but i did get my :ani29: in March '11.
