• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yes windshields....:D. I know there is a bunch of schools of thought on this topic but here it goes....

i am 5'11" and currently have the ultra sport shield on my bike. While i like the sport look would like to get more wind protection. I am considering the Cal or the Chad. What do you guys think. :dontknow:

I currently have :

CalSci XL with removable Laminar Lip

Givi

CHAD on the way!

I'm 5'8" and have the NMN risers. The CalSci works pretty well - the Laminar lip makes a big difference.

The Givi is the best looking of the bunch.

Considering you are taller than I am - I think you should go for the CHAD.

Okay, you're now the unofficial official windshield reviewer...I'm still waiting for the BRP newbie but if this goes much longer I'll just get the CHAD...this is the only one so far that is absolute amongst us...

WHAT IS A REMOVABLE LAMINAR LIP ?

Thanks Firefly, looks interesting. I have the Calsci XL and may give this thing a try. I have been riding motorcycles nearly all my life and have owned over 25 different ones ranging from Cushman Eagle (the first) to the GL 1800 Goldwing (current) and now the spyder, but I have never seen a add on product like the Laminarlip. Thanks again for the info. :2thumbs:

It's an easy install - sticky velcron stuff - let it sit a day or more before trying to un-velcro it - otherwise the sticky stuff comes up. After you take it on and off a few times it becomes easier. I typically just left it on.

I'm 5'8" and it took the wind from hitting my face to above my helmet - such that I could ride with the shield up if I wanted.

It's very functional - but I'm still going for the 'right' look - which is why I ordered a GIVI - which I LOVE the looks of - but not enough wind protection - so now I have a CHAD coming in - the 1/2 and 1/2 clear and tinted - and will round the corners as that makes it look much better!

W is 4'10" and I am 5'10" Her CHAD works for both of us. Still amazes me that with the CHAD in her riding position, I get clean air off of it - no buffeting. I think I would want it higher for rain, etc, tho.

We get a lot of comments on how great it looks on the Spyder!
