• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The wife has told me that I can buy the Air Ride AST#3 trailer to haul the spyder on. With the features I want along with shipping and taxes, this is maybe a $5,000 venture. She told me to call the guy today and order, but I want to know if any of my SL friends have any other options they use to pull their spyders. I must say not having to deal with a ramp is nice. :)

I have multiple options...my tundra, ram, or expedition.

This trailer has a hydraulic system that lowers it to the ground, and you just drive the spyder right on. Then push the button, and the trailer lifts back up. Suppose to be light weight and can be pulled by any of my vehicles. In fact, maybe my Nitro can pull it too.
 
air-ride trailer

I have a 7' x 12' v nose trailer with a drop ramp door.
This trailer cost 3200.00 with my choice of color,wheels
& axles. It takes a 7' wide so the ramp door entrance
will be wide enough for the spyder to go through.
There is enough room to store what i take along
in case of any bad luck with the spyder,jack & tools.
Have storage for helments & riding gear extra oil.
After a days riding i back the spyder into the trailer
& lock it up so no one will mess with it over night.

You don't have a problem getting up the ramp with the spyder? Who makes this trailer or where can I find it? Do you have any pics?
 
I have a 7x12 Cargomate trailer with dual axle drop down Ramp.I bought last year 2011 and towed my RT 2000 miles behind my Motorhome the past few months.The RT fits perfectly ride straight up the ramp and in.Put the brake on.There are then d rings on the floor 3 in front 3 in back.All set up with tie downs and off you go.IAlso hanging hooks for jackets,helmets etc.
At night the RT stays in the trailer like a garage.We had a lot of room so also carried 2 bicycles plus other stuff.Its fully set up for the RT and ready to goGoes up and down ramp with no problem.Also has additional breaking system wit radio control from tow vehicle.
We have just put the Motorhome up for sale thus I have no need for the trailer anymore.I was about to put it up for sale.Its in top condition .I paid just over $5000 plus tax for it and would take $3900 for it.If of interest PM me or call or text 561-351-9095.

I also use an enclosed trailer, which cost less than that. Mine is a 7'x12' V-nose, all aluminum unit by R'N'R. The towing capacity of your tow vehicle may limit your ability to pull an enclosed trailer, however. In that case an open trailer is a good alternative.

But what if you have two spyders??? Minimum 18 foot trailer needed for that and that may even be tight. The Spyder is 105" long. That's just over 8'.
 
I have an Alumna TK-1 trailer. The ramp slides under the bed. It has a rock guard in front that is also a storage box.
Look in the mods section under Cavman's getting started.
I added some extra hold downs from US Cargo Control. The trailer was about $2700.

BTW, if you have the BumpSkid on your Spyder, you will need two thin boards to put on the bottom of the ramp for the BumpSkid to clear the ramp. The front tires go up the boards then on to the outer edges of the ramp when loading. The ramp is narrower that the trailer bed.

That is a nice trailer and I considered getting one myself until I saw the drop tail trailer and it cheaper. http://www.droptailtrailers.com/product-p/03-sst2200-02.htm There is a least one member who has this trailer and enjoys it.

If the boss wants the Air Ride then go for it. IMHO it's the best open trailer for loading, unloading and hauling the Spyder, but it's expensive.

I watched the video on the website. This is a very interesting option. I particularly like the way the trailer folds up and becomes easy to store. I also like the mechanical over-ride of lifting and dropping the trailer in case the hydraulic parts fail for some reason. I wonder what happens if the Air-Ride has hydraulic failure?? It might not have a mechanical over-ride like the drop-tail. Definitely a good selling point for droptail.

No problem getting up the ramp at all. Go on line & look up enclosed cargo trailers
there should be a dealer close by or close enough so you can get to him.
I looked at several different trailers but liked the idea of the spyder & the gear locked
up inside & out of sight. I do not have a problem towing with a f 150.

Drop Tail Trailer

I just purchased a Drop Tail Trailer for my Spyder RT fm my area HD dealer for $3k. It is sturdy and well built. The tail drops down as the name implies via hydraulics. It also folds so you can stand it on end and roll it into your garage. It takes up minimal space when folded up. I bought the spare tire as well. You can save about $2k with the Drop Tail and a lot of space in your garage. I spoke the the manufacturing plant regarding size, build, etc. they very friendly and helpful. He even located a unit I could buy within a day. I purchased it the next day. I have been researching for a trailer for over 6 months. This seemed the best value space and price wise. Also, I could not find any used Drop Tails which may speak to their quality and usefulness.

I would go with the portable garage to keep your Spyder in the same condition that you put it in the trailer , instead of it being rained on or having crap thrown on it . Enclosed trailer the way to go .:thumbup:
