• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Whole lot of shaking going on - Harrypotter and the Myans ?

I'm at one end of the Salton Sea and this swarm is on the other. They're continuing to happen as I'm typing this.

Well hang on to something! Aren't small events like this happening all of the time out there? (Or are these NOT that small???) :yikes:
Hoping that things calm down out there for you!

They do...happen all the time. This is different....it's a very concentrated swarm that's happening one after the other just on the edge of the San Andreas fault southern most end. This many, this fast so concentrated,,,,,is not the norm. :yikes::roflblack:

Good Luck, get prepared, and stay safe!
I've only ever felt two minor shakes over the years: a 4.2 and a 4.5, so I have no perspective that I can use to offer anything else! :opps:

Just had another 5.4..... my gut tells me this is not good.....for sure.....it's out of the norm for how these events occur.

I was i Japan in the late 60's, There were quakes happening every day, As a matter of fact if they didn't have any quakes one day it was like not having any rain for a day in Seattle,
The locals all ran to Church.:roflblack:

Two hundred and eleven so far.......in 7 days :yikes: :roflblack:

Question: Do these episodes tend to escalate until things get really interesting? Does a whole bunch (swarm) like this point to something on the horizon??

No one knows, and if they think they do and hold a position of authority, they are not allowed to divulge their thoughts due to internal political forces.

One thing they are in agreement on is that the Southern end of the San Andreas is several decades late for a major (7.0) or greater event. As already stated, this activity is occurring on the very end of that fault, but it is not mapped as - part of - San Andreas. But, it is so close it could trigger that long awaited event. So.....we wait

Events like this are not normal. Generally swarms of this magnitude and quantity follow a major event. That's what makes this so different IMO.

As of this post we are up to 313 quakes in the past 7 days and, they have all happened in a very tight (relatively speaking) area.

:dontknow: wait an see ;)

If interested.........

I feel for the folks of Brawley. It's a farming community made of people from all walks of life.

When we get the BIG ONE....their town as well as mine will cease to exist. For that matter if it is as big as it is expected to be......it will be the worst national disaster in the history of this country. It will impact the entire country for months if not years on end. Just the facts.
