There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. My 2010 RT-S SE5 now has 12,000 miles on it, so I was wondering who has had the required maintenance done and what was the cost. The maintenance guide states the following - Replace the Transmission oil filter, engine coolant, exhaust "Y"pipe front gaskets, spark plugs, bearings seals, O-rings and wear sleeves of rear axle and brakes fluid and oil change.

We had my wife's RT done for 12,000 miles last month. Total cost for everything including the valves was $943. Since we bought the dealer's service package with the bike (six service intervals over three years) it was no cost to us. She now has used the 600 mile, the 3,000 mile, the 6,000 mile and the 12,000 mile in just over a year, so she just has two left. We bought the package at half price ($750) so it was well worth the expense.

I think the dealer's make out on these from folks who don't put much mileage on their machines. The salesperson told me that most buyers put less than 3,000 miles a year on their bikes. That seems silly to tie up that much money and let it sit so often, but apparently that is the case.

Time

Your 2010 RT won't need brake, clutch and Antifreeze fluids done till next year as it says 2 years for fluids. That should save a few dollars on your 12,000 mile inspection. My rear tire will need to be done at the 12,000 and will just change the bearings as well. Adds to the cost but think it is a good idea.

Ruthie, I have a maintenance agreement so I paid for the 12,000 mile service up front rather than out of pocket at the time but it cost $509.93. As well as changing oil and filter, service included changing antifreeze and brake fluid, replacing spark plugs with 2 NGK DCPR9E, valve clearances checked and all found within specifications. This was done at Family Powersports in San Angelo, Texas.

I just had the 18,000 mile service done on it and it cost $181.81 also covered by the maintenance agreement. My maintenance agreement is for three years with no limit on the number of services.

Agreements?

I never heard about the maintenance agreements? I would have bought one if I could have!!! Drags!

The manual says 12,000 miles or 2 years. I had my 12,000 service done earlier this year and they did all the fluids.

130K miles and 11 12K maintenance on 2 engines; 3 valve adjustement; both engines expire.

The maintenance agreement is strictly a dealer item. BRP has nothing to do with it. As someone else posted, most people don't put enough miles on their toys to make the agreement worthwhile and the dealer makes money on it. Mine is a 3 year contract with no limit on the number of services that cost $1395.00. It certainly wasn't cheap but I am already ahead as compared to the cost of individual services and have 19 months to go on it. When it's used up, I will probably go back to doing my own maintenance as I have on all the other bikes I've ever owned. I guess I was just afraid to risk doing the service myself on the Spyder since it's so computerized and high tech besides having bucket and shim valves which I had never dealt with. I've learned a lot about it in the 17 months I've owned it (mostly on Spyderlovers but also talking to the dealer's technician) so I will be less hesitant about working on it myself. In the meantime, I'm enjoying riding it into the shop and hanging around while somebody else does the work. LOL
