• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where are the Fuses/Relays that might stop my Spyder starting?

This newbie just got done changing the battery, only I think I messed up. Got the new battery from the dealers and he charged it overnight. After I changed the battery, still nothing, so I called the dealer and they said check the fuses. I could not find any of the fuses blown. There are a lot (sorry for the description) of little black boxes, I believe those are relays - Would anyone know how to check relays and which one might be for the starter etc, or even if there is one? Thanks in advance guys

Dave

Dave, I had to look at your profile to see you have a 2013 RT correct? :dontknow: & before digging in the fuses, go back and check your work on the cables & terminals, are they clean & tight? The dealer told you it was charged, but can you verify that (with a volt meter), or charge it yourself? You get nothing, no dash, but what about any lights, radio, etc? Kind of nothing, or it just won't start?? :unsure:

Everything Lights up

Everything lights up, brake lights, dash, radio plays, etc. When I turn the key on though, I don't get the safety card thing and it goes straight to the speedometer. It ust wont crank over. I am hoping when we tried to jump start it the other night that I didn't fry the starter. I tightenend up the cables with a ratchet, so I know they are tight and clean. It just wont turn over :yikes: Thanks Guys.

1 - Make sure the red Kill Switch is in the Run position;
2 - bike in neutral or your foot on the brake;
3 - press the :mode: button:
4 - press start.

If that fails:

5 - check fuse F8 & replace it if blown;
6 - the starter solenoid could be bad. It is located to the right of the battery. Use youtube to learn how to test your solenoid. I won't give you advice on that;
7 - if fuse F8 continues to blow, then take to your dealer. Diode D2 could be bad, but that will require more extensive tests.

That's about all I can get out of the repair manual.

Hope it helps.

Fire34, After installing or reconnecting battery the battery, the 'read the safety card' message and 'push the mode button' is skipped for the first start. That's normal, so ignore that symptom.

First the basics.
Put your butt in the seat.
Make sure the engine kill switch is in the run position.
Turn the key on.
Do you hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds? If yes that's good. If no that can point to a key or DESS error. The error will not show on the screen until one minute after turning the key on. So if you are not watching the screen you will miss it. If you have a key error, try the spare key.
When the safety card message comes up, Push the mode button. If it skips the safety card message, don't worry about it.
Put your foot on the brake pedal and hold it down.
If you have a manual pull in the clutch lever.
Then press the start button.

Now the details are important here - exactly what happens? Does it click and the screen cycle off then on again? Or does nothing at all happen? If nothing at all happens, Check the stuff Joel The Biker suggested. If the screen cycles off and on, you've got a Loose connection.
