• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What's better; 1" BRP riser + 3" NMN risers, or 4" NMN risers?

Its all Personal Preference.....I went with the 1" riser and love it....I dont see any need for me to go any higher.....But that is just me....I have seen several with the 3" and 4" and they like it.....

What are the pros and cons of the 1+3 versus the 4"?

Here is what I have found out.

I have the 1 inch BRP riser on my Spyder from day one and it was just not enough for me. I must be getting too old for true sport bike riding positions anymore. LOL! ;)

The 3 inch kit plus that BRP kit puts the risers at the max limit you can go with stock cables, and yet makes a REAL change in the riding comfort.

Thing is if I had to do it over again, I would not have waisted my money on the BRP kit as there is no advantage in doing it this way. It only ended up costing way more money to do so.

The reason we make the 3 inch kit is the BRP risers are a real pain to install or remove. So for everybody who already has these in place why waist the labor to remove them just to install the 4 inch kit. This way there is not another waist of good money to remove the BRP kit, just use the 3 inch kit along with the 1 inch kit from BRP.

I had the BRP kit installed by the dealer before I took delivery. The labor and the 1 inch riser cost over $150 all said and done. Now add in the 3 inch kit and you'll have almost $350 invested to get a total of 4 inch rise if you have the dealer install your 1 inch kit.

The 4 inch kit is only $209 and puts the bars in the same final position, saving you some real money with the same end result.

However you can use the 3 inch kit on a bike that has no BRP risers as well for those of you that want a bit less rise as the 3 inch kit will work on these bikes as well.

If you hve any questions just give me a call and I'd be glad to try to help you out.

4" For Me

4" and I'm as happy as a clam. You can tilt them forward or backwards to fit your personal preference and riding style.

Does anybody know if dealers will do the 4" mod and are there any warrenty issues? I'm not good with tools.

That depends on the dealer, but of course you knew that already.

However, I can tell you that we have about 8 BRP dealers who buy kits from us already and are installing them for their customers.

I guess the best way to know if your dealer will do it is just ask?

How high to go...

I have the 1" and it's comfortable for me...

I will say that comfort is the MOST important thing whether you're at work all day long or riding on a bike.

If 3" or 4" will make your ride more comfortable, then certainly spend the money and go that way. It's no good to ride if you're experiencing discomfort.

On that note, you should be in a riding position that allows you to form an abdominal brace. The should be NO SLOUCHING while you are riding. Any forward movement should come from the hips (hip hinge), not the low back. This position is spine-saving and will not allow you to create disc compression that will ultimately create a lot of musculoskeletal problems.

Our dealer gets $39 for the riser and 1.5 hours labor at $70 per to install the risers. plus the 8% good old NYS sales tax.

Hey aubierules..... Do I have the pleasure of addressing a "War Eagle" ???

I just completed the install of the 4" risers tonight. I only went around the block twice to test them, but they feel very different and much better. Because you can change the angle of the 4" risers, you can change the height and pull back and my cables allowed me to be pretty flexible with the angle. I think this makes it a winner.

As far as mechanical difficulty, it is not too hard, providing you have the right tools. I went out and bought some quality Sears Craftsman T-Handle hex bit tools (metric and standard), a complete torx driver set, and a pipe cutter. As you can guess, I'm no hard core mechanic like Lamonster. I'm a project manager by trade and if I can complete this install, most people can too.

The only issue I had was the bolts shipped were a bit too big for the holes (Magic Man explained why it happened) and luckily, I inherited my Dad's old grinder so a quick spin on it took care of them and they cinched up just fine. Also, the reverse cable put up a fight going back into the housing but patience and the help of the Wife-L-Unit and it went back like it was supposed too. Also had to remove and re-install my Cal-Sci windshield and when I torqued it down, put a small crack in one of the holes but it appears to be still solidly mounted and I'll just keep an eye on the crack to make sure it doesn't spread :joke:

All in all, the price is reasonable, the product and instructions were good and I would recommend the 4" risers to all. :firstplace:
