• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What windshield bug cleaner do you use?

I asked a parts guy at the dealership when I purchased my Spyder almost 11 years ago and he suggested nothing more than a towel and warm water laid on the windshield. Let it soak for a short bit of time and then wipe the windshield vertically from top to bottom and then give it a final vertical drying wipe with another clean towel. Works fine for me.

Remember, life is such that bug guts always wind up smack in the middle of one's line of vision. I don't care whether it's on the helmet face shield or the windshield.

NEVER use paper towels! They put faint hairline scratches in plexiglass that can never be removed. Use an old cotton T-shirt that's been through the wash 100 times. Wet the windshield and allow it to set for a few minutes without drying out. JayBros has a great method. I'm going to try that.

I use microfiber cloths with the method JayBros described.
I then use RainX Plastic to help water bead off the windshield. I also use RainX Plastic on the visor of my helmet.

Yup ... Just soak a bath towel in hot water, wring it out and drape it over your windscreen for a bit. Then use it to wipe off the bugs and dry with another towel.

I use Chemical Guys Waterless Car Wash, it cleans the paint and adds protection. It is good for Wheels, Glass, Clear optical plastic, bumpers, window trim, exhaust tips, engine bays, door jams, and more. It has gloss enhancers and sealant to add shine and help protect from the elements.

I also use the above on my helmet shield with a micro fiber cloth.

Used dryer sheets and plain water. Dry with a microfiber cloth.
I use rainex for plastic and that helps the bugs from sticking too badly.
The used dryer sheets won't scratch the screen but have soft fibers that help loosen the bugs. They are also free from hotel laundry rooms when traveling.
I use Honda cleaner on the rest of the bike and I can see where it would work well also.

I use Turtle Wax ice and a microfiber cloth. Cleans the bugs off and leaves a slippery surface that makes future removal easier. Same on my helmet visor as well.

Don't have a windshield on the Spyder, just a gauge fairing to keep the bugs from splattering on the front side of the panel.

I use the;

Meguiars - PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner And Polish

To clean the gauge fairing, and also the face shields on the helmets. use it to clean up the clear plastic covers over the headlights and blinkers on the front of my truck too. It works great on just about any hard, clear plastic. Helps with the deeper scratches too. Carry a small bottle in the tank bag during "lovebug season".

Hint- cover the bug splattered places on vehicles with wet rags for 15 or 20 minutes before you try to get them off. Most of the time the bugs are dried on there and wetting them down good will soften them and make them easier to clean off. Old ragged edged towels work real well. They hold a lot of water.

I use the Plastex stuff. Have used it since back in 80's. I will use a foaming spray non-ammonia cleaner on windshield with micro fiber. Let it sit a bit to loosen up dirt etc.
