• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What kind of Oil

I hope this isn't like the motorcycle forums -- but I did try searching for an oil thread on here and didn't find one

This is for a 2014 RT LT --

so what is the general opinion on oil -- Regular or synthetic? Motorcycle specific or regular automotive oil?

We all have our opinion of the best brand -- and let me just say that after being a loyal fan of brand X for 30 plus years, I just went with brand XX on my last change and like it a lot -- no I am not going to debate the merits of each brand. If you want to know what I went with and why -- just PM me. I will be glad to tell you what I put into my motorcycles and truck and the results

full synthetic

motorcycle/wet clutch specific, with the jaso-ma2 rating. personally, i use valvoline. amsoil is a little better.

Now then..!!

if in doubt or if all the oil information gets confusing...use the oil that came with the machine. There may be better certainly worse but they put it in for a reason.. I still use brp kits and the spyder is doing very well. Not even a hic cup...but if you must move on I hear Amsoil a lot...

Amsoil is good stuff; I'll dance with the girl that I brought to the Ball...
BRP blended!
It was good enough for the geniuses that built the engine... :D

40K

i have over 40K miles, and always use the recommended BRP brand...
i read here where some people are using a quart or more between oil changes... i don't know what oils they are using, but i've never used much over 1/2 a qt. of oil between changes... even when riding from SC to UT, doing 70 mph for 8 - 10 hrs per day...
must be why
BRP sellected this brand.... JMHO

ain't it great? what the heck, it's been a few days.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
What kind of oil do u use Drew NJ ?

THIS MEETS BRP CRITERIA

Shell Rotella T-6 5w - 40 Full Syn......$ 21.36 per Gal.@ Wallmart = $ 5.34 per Qt., there was some talk that Shell makes the BRP blended oil they sell for the Spyders and other BRP products. Wether this is true or not I can't confirm nor deny .......Mikeyver

I'll make up for the additional cost, by switching to one-ply bathroom tissue...
It'll allow me to get in touch with my inner self! :yikes:
