• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is the best first upgrade to SPYDER or RYKER?

The very first thing:
GET A LASER ALUGNMENT
The Spyder tracks like it's on rails when properly aligned.
When not aligned, you'll feel like you're riding behind a big truck, and it can be so unstable you'll rue the day you ever saw a Spyder.
You're probably not going to do a lot of night driving at first, so next I'd go for things for comfort such as handlebars and seats, maybe suspension upgrades.
Then go for more lighting to increase safety.
After the stock tires wear out, and they will, get better tires.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong. I'm sure someone on this forum will be delighted to let me know.

It took less than 300 miles for me to realize my 2020 RT suspension was not up to my riding abilities. 1st - sway bar, 2nd - tires, 3rd - shocks.

BTW, what was your first upgrade you have done?

Lights. Assuming you already know you want to keep the bike, add lights. You WON'T be seen and the more lights you have, the better off you are. After that, ride for a while (unless you've only upgraded bikes and already know what you need/want) before you decide. For example, before I ever took delivery of my current ride, I knew I'd need a backrest and I knew I'd order one from Utopia. (I also knew it would take a while to get so I ordered a new Big Bike backrest from another vendor to use in the meantime.)

Hi guys, so many questions I have received lately, what should be the first upgrade for new owner of SPYDER or RYKER.
My answer is bit different, and probably something that many would not expect...

IF I WERE TO GIVE MY OPINION AND YOU KNOW ABOUT OPINIONS..... EVERYONE HAS ONE, I would have to say get rid of that crapy seat
the designer who came up with the seat should go back to flipping burgers at a fast food place... the Ryker seat is a bad joke....
The seats on the RT and F3 are OK but I can cure most all the problems they have but the Ryker seat , not so much....

#1.- Tires ... #2.- lazer alignment ... #3.- Utopia backrest for 2014 RT ...... then I did about 75 more things :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: ( not kidding ) ...... Mike :thumbup:

For me, first upgrade was brake pedal riser. Short legs.
Next on deck, handlebar riser. Have it, just need to go do my wrenching.

1) Any that make your riding position comfortable and safer; i.e. bigger brake pedal, handlebar risers, backrest, etc.

2) Any that makes your bike track straighter; i.e. laser alignment, BR sway bars

3) Any that makes your bike safer; i.e. LED lights, fender lights, trunk-mounted brake/turn/running lights, etc.

4) Any that makes your bike easier to work on: MAGIC MIRRORS

Yes, riding comfortably is a big plus........and it’s interesting that we are all different in making ourselves comfortable, Peacekeeper. I tried the bigger brake pedal, but all it did was push my size 15 EEEWide boot off the floorboard, making it far less safe for me

This is a bit of a challenge for me because there have been so many in my opinion significant upgrades. But I agree in that any Safety related upgrade should be at the top so for me it has to be the BajaRon sway bar.

I disagree, only because the horn is RARELY used when compared to the other mods.……unless you’re one who likes to lay on the horn, of course.

It's kind of like a parachute: it's rarely used, but when it is, you definitely want it to do its job. :) And a loud horn does its job better.

Safety first! Where I ride in Central Florida, there have been many instances of drivers coming into my lane without looking when I was driving I4 to work and back home. And a few that looked me in the eye and took the lane from me anyway! I installed an air horn on the Gold Wing I rode then, and if it didn't discourage them, it at least got the other drivers around looking and seeing the situation. A loud horn was the first mod on my HD ultra classic and Kawasaki Versus 1000 I've had since the Wing, and the second on my 2017 spider RTL purchased at the end of September last year.. The first was to have the ECU flashed by Monster Fuel because I had been lurking about this board for about 6 months prior to buying the RTL doing research. Installed the horn while waiting on the ECU to return. To me, it was a necessity because of the weak horns on most bikes that don't get anyone's proper attention.

The first upgrade ...was the front and rear shocks...which was by far the most expensive but yet most effective upgrade
For the spyder.
