There were a few things about the Spyder I thought I was sure of when I bought the Spyder. Things I would either need to change immediately or would never get used to. After a month, I have learned a few things...
First, I thought I would never get used to not having a hand brake. Now, I don't miss it at all. The foot brake alone works just fine. Interestingly, I have no issue going from the Spyder to the Harley. It's as natural as going from the bike to the car.
Second, I thought I would need a larger shield immediately. Now, I am comfortable driving down the superslab doing 80 with either my full face Shoei or a 3/4 HD Carbon Kevlar. It feels pretty good. May change my mind when it gets colder, but for now I am fine with the stock shield.
Third, I was fairly sure I would want to sell my Harley as the Spyder would just take it's place. Well, it doesn't. I appreciate my bike more than ever and while I may someday sell it just because the Spyder is simply safer and it no longer makes financial sense to keep both, it won't be because the Spyder is as fun to ride as a bike. It's just a more practical. The good news is I'm putting fewer miles on the car!
How about you?
