There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What else do I need?

Just got a used Alumna trailer. Going to order the OEM RT trailer hitch & control module 219400330. What is the purpose of the control module? Is it just a fancy name for trailer receptacle? What else will be needed to hook up wiring? What is the control module? Is this the wiring harness that plugs in to the RT (where)? Then I will have to make up a pigtail to plug from the module on the RT to the trailer? Can't I just splice in behind the module and make the type end that is needed?

I believe the control module isolates the trailer and keeps the nanny happy. I've read some post where some have blown fuses and fried some wiring by not installing the control module.

The "control module" would be the Spyder-side wiring harness with connector and integrated isolator/converter module. It is plug-n-play to the Spyder wiring, and provides a module to isolate the trailer circuits on their own fuse, and convert the Spyder's 5-wire lighting to 4-wire for the newer trailers. You cannot splice in behind the module since it is integral with the connector. If your Alumna trailer is 4-wire, you would need to build an adapter from the Spyder 9-pin connector to the trailer, or change out the trailer connector. That can be done with the 2011/2012 RT-622 pole harness or a matching Deutsch connector. If your Alumna is 5-wire, it will have to be rewired to 4-wire to work with anything but the 2010 wiring harness...which is no longer available.

Since my RT is a 2010 will the module I listed work with the 2010 RT? Will this just plug in to the 2010 RT with no problem?

The module will work just fine, but is not the same as the original module in output.

Which pole harness do I need? The 2011 #710002442. Or the 2010 #710002029. Man I hate to spend 100.00 for a connector. Could 1 be made from parts here http://www.wirecare.com/deutsch-connectors.asp?selectedDelimiter=9&Series=HD10
Technically you could use either harness, but the later trailer modules only put out 4-wire output, so the additional two wires in the 2010 harness are wasted. That harness is cheaper, though. You can do it yourself with the separate Deutsch parts. You would need the connector, pins, blank hole plugs, and the special crimping pliers. You will also need a boot or closure for the back of the connector.

question for Scotty

Hi Scotty. Just bought a 2014 RT limited. Will the trailer hitch from my 2012 RT fit the 14 and if so does BRP sell the harness seperately? thanks.
