What does 450N mean in belt tension.

I read the adjustment procedure and see the BRP tension gauge and also see the 3 measurements (mass,width&span) it says to enter those into the meter and tighten the belt till you see it has 450N =- 150N. Does that mean Newton Meters? If so that equates to 331ftlb?

You are confusing torque with force. Newtons is a measurement of force, to convert it to english measure would be pound-force. 1 Newton is equal to 0.2248 pound-force.

According to your post it only covers up to 2010 model what about 2011 and on?

I also have noticed you have a 2013 model. The service bulletin you reference does not apply. The spec for 2013 models is 1050 =/- 150 N.

I know I posted it (2013) on another thread. Thanks for reposting it here I could not get the whole page . To answer the other poster the 450 covers all until 2013 when it changed to 1050 as you can see above.

So that means 102 lb-force@ 450 (236@ 1050 for a 2013) what is a good way to measure it.

There is no direct comparison or conversion for a measurement which is measured with the sonic gauge. The best way to get a decent comparison is to have your belt properly adjusted by the dealer (preferably with them telling you the readings), then measure the belt with a Krikit-2 or the Harley gauge to get a baseline for future adjustments. That also lets you measure with the Spyder on the ground, unlike the BRP method which requires the Spyder to be jacked up...at least for 2008-2012, not sure about 2013. Remember that the tension readings are the average of three separate readings taken roughly equidistant on the belt.
