Wearing hearing aids with helmet

I did not want to hi-jack the thread of wearing glasses with helmet, so am starting this thread. I have tried wearing the aids but one time after going to a store I looked down on the ground just before mounting the bike. Yep there was one of my hearing aids. So I no longer wear them with a helmet. Does anyone have suggestions for wearing aids with a helmet. I have ordered two different skull caps and will try wearing those under the helmet to see if that will help from the aids from coming off when taking off the helmet.

My suggestion: go naked! don't wear them. They are a total nuisance to wear when riding.

I take mine out and put them in a little box and wear earplugs while riding. I'm trying to blunt as much wind noise as possible to keep what little hearing I have.

It depends what kind you have. I have very small aids that go way inside my ears. I have no problem. But I had the kind that have the battery that sit on top of your ears an the cup went in your ear. I lost that pair. The ones that go inside your ears are much better for hearing and comfort.

My audiologist said that I would be better off not wearing them while riding. First, you don't want to lose something that expensive and second, wear hearing protection while riding to protect what hearing you have left!:doorag:

:agree: You don't want to amplify any of the potentially damaging noises any more than absolutely necessary, and my audiologist recommended the same - while riding, put the hearing aids away & wear ear plugs to protect the hearing you have left. You can even get specialist type ear plugs that don't block the 'spoken voice' noises so much, but will protect you from any other/damaging noise! And you can also get intercom units that will help you hear your pillion/other linked riders once your helmet is on - I use U-Clear & find them very good, and they don't force me to use a boom mic either (the mic is in the ear piece/speaker!) :thumbup:

My ear specialist had my aids sent off to the manufacturer to have a "tab" on the bottom. I also got the next size down ear pads for my helmet. No problems since.

I wear behind the ear aids and, in addition to the risk of knocking one off when donning or doffing the helmet, they just don't fit in the helmet ear pockets with the Sena speakers. I wear ear plugs to protect what little I have left after giving most of it to the VC and what they didn't get years in cannon artillery took out.

Precisely what I do. I've forgotten I had my hearing aids in until I began riding and realized I was hearing TOO MUCH wind noise. Swapped them for ear plugs and all was good again.
