• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Washing my Baby.

At nearly 1000 miles I need to clean my baby. So I got a microfiber cloth and some cleaner the guy at Cycle Gear recommended. But my question is can I just hose her off with a water hose? All over (dash, seat, etc).....No high pressure just your normal garden hose.

I want to hose her off to start the bugs soaking then use my cloth to clean her a bit more.

Is this okay?

Thanks,
Joe

Absolutely...
When you get in the shower; don't you "hose yourself" down a bit, before you get down to business? :D

Just keep the spray away from the handlebar ends (Switches), and the Display panel.

I do it all the time. Plus when i ride to work, I work nights, in the am when I get off I often use the condensation on the bike to clean the bugs off. They soak all night and I use a couple microfibre towels to just wipe em off before I ride home.

Yep. I have done it. just don't get too close with high pressure. Did the car wash a few times as well.

Cycle gear??? Ya they are ok but you know when on SPYDERLOVERS you should always use Lamonster garage Black Diamond detailer:)

A garden hose at low pressure with a watering wand that sprays like a shower head along with a bucket of car wash soap & warm water with a wash mitt has worked great for me for 3 years now. I don't spray the dash or the seat, I just use the damp microfiber towel that I dry the RT with to clean up the dash & seat. I do use leather conditioner on the seat atferwards, and that has so far kept the seat looking like new.

Only one.....

suggerstion....always spray in a downward motion. These machines are designed to be in the rain so they are waterproof to a point. spraying up under things is not like rain and will get things wet that shouldn't be....

This is how I clean mine and it works every time. I ride to an area where rain is in the forecast, I apply soap (dish soap or car wash soap, whatever is handy) and I ride really, really fast in the rain. The bigger the downpour the better.

I never saw a label that said Dry Clean Only.

...And if it was a State without mandatory helmet laws: a bit of shampoo in your hair, and there's one less chore for later!!
(I won't talk about the "riding in a Nudist Colony" option...)

Are you referring to the "Disney Panel" Bob? (display panel)

The only Spyder/Motorcycle I have washed down is my Dirt Bikes and then with a spray washer in the last

25 years.

I never wash with water. I always spray on detailer and wipe off. I use Pledge to clean bugs and clear

swirls on the windshield. A short handled "Swiffer" is easy and works wonders on the wheels and greasy

filmed underparts. Detailer works wonders. Use a lot and then simply wipe down.

I always wash with Car wash soap, Blow dry with a leaf blower and then wipe clean with a fresh new microfiber towel. I buy the big packs at costco for cheap. Try to not get a direct spray on the control panel. Mine started to show moisture inside and the dealer fixed it but I have seen other threads where this has happened. Congratulations on the new spyder and see you at the burger cookout on Saturday.

When at home I wash with a waterhose every time. I spray directly at the gauges, switches and waterproof GPS twice. Once to presoak and once to rinse. I do not avoid any areas at all. They are waterproof. When on the road I have used a car wash pressure wash. There of course you must keep a minimum distance of away about 1 foot just like a car or you will strip the paint off.

I don't know where people get the idea that you can't get them wet. If something leaks tell BRP to fix it. That's what warranty is for. Ignore the worrying grannies. Drive it. Get it dirty. Wash it. Repeat.

Best Way For Me

When it is time for a wash (after every ryde) we take a large supply of cotton towels (procured from hotel gyms over the years) and soake them in HOT water. We then drop these all over the motorcycle. This really loosens the bugs and they will slide off without any issues! I wipe the bike down all over in sections and then dry each section. Then we hit it with Lamonster Black Diamond! And then it's time for the shades to cut the glare from the shine!:doorag:
