• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wanted to share symptoms and resolution as an FYI, cracked vacuum hoses

I recently bought a used 2012 RS and noticed these symptoms just before having my 6000 mile service done.

Hesitation in the 4000-5000 RPM range when coming off then back onto the throttle
Rough downshifting
Idled just a bit rough, hardly noticeable
Poor gas mileage - between 20-25 mpg
My wife said that exhaust smelled when ryding behind me

So, when I brought it in to be serviced, I told the mgr that I thought it might be running rich.
He called me later that day and agreed it was running very rich, but was not throwing any codes.
They needed to call BRP for suggestions, at the end of the day found 2 cracked vac hoses causing the issues.
Rode the spyder all weekend and problems have all gone away.
I hope this may help someone get to the root cause more quickly if they have similar symptoms.

BRP upgraded hoses

My 2012 RT is currently waiting on some exhaust system parts replaced under warranty.

The tech also noticed that the hoses were all degraded from heat and ordered replacement for those as well.

I suggested that they not use BRP hoses but make up silicone hoses from bulk material.

Here is an excerpt from the email I received yesterday from the service manager at the dealership.

Mr. Rae,

I have all the parts on order and authorization on the repairs.

There is no need to make up silicone hoses with aftermarket parts.

BRP has updated the hoses to new ones as well so those will be the new and improved version.

Ask them to give you the old hoses...
At your leaisure; take a peek up under her skirts :D, and compare them to the new ones...

I forgot about this being a warranty issue... :opps:
They say that the memory is the second thing to go...

...And I forgot what the first one was! :yikes:

Since they will return them to BRP I probably won't see them but I'm having them check the hoses on my wife's RT when I go to pick mine up. That means I have to ride pillion with her for 30 miles. (Not something she enjoys)

I plan to compare the ones on her Spyder with the new ones on mine at the dealership.

Her RT is five months older than mine so we'll see what kind of shape they are in.
