The 998 was in use until 2016, the 2016 Spyder RS was the last Spyder to have it.The 998's are not in current use by BRP. Most dealers will not even work on them because they are more than 10 years old and parts are an issue these days.
HI, Thanks for the information I will go for the 1330 ccThe 1330 is better, its a 6 speed vs the older 998 is a 5 speed. Gas mileage is better with the 1330 about 40 mpg vs 30 mpg for the 998. Both 998 and 1330 are good over all.
HI, I have decided to move onto 3 wheels I have been riding since 1971 but I know zero about the spider, so I wanted to check with people who know, I am going to the spider dealer in a few weeks time to pick one and the 1000cc spiders cost much less, but after looking at the replies I will go for the 1330 cc one. last year I took my Harley sportster pulling a trailer from my home town now Opole, Poland through Germany, Holland and into England and Scotland and back, and at 68 years old I felt every one of the 1100 miles, and on a trip to the north of Poland to a bike rally last year my wife said she was not comfortable and looking at the luggage space of the spider and its comfort /wind protection I am hooked on the spider. thanks again for all the help. They are both great motors! Why are you asking about the goods and bads, thinking about a purchase?
Well under those guidelines if I was you, go for the 1330, and if your pocket can take the heat go for a new one or find one as new as you can with low miles and a good service record!!! Once you get it tuned to your liking as far as suspension, tires, and bells and whistles you'll love it, trust me!! Good luck!!HI, I have decided to move onto 3 wheels I have been riding since 1971 but I know zero about the spider, so I wanted to check with people who know, I am going to the spider dealer in a few weeks time to pick one and the 1000cc spiders cost much less, but after looking at the replies I will go for the 1330 cc one. last year I took my Harley sportster pulling a trailer from my home town now Opole, Poland through Germany, Holland and into England and Scotland and back, and at 68 years old I felt every one of the 1100 miles, and on a trip to the north of Poland to a bike rally last year my wife said she was not comfortable and looking at the luggage space of the spider and its comfort /wind protection I am hooked on the spider. thanks again for all the help.
Jock, it sounds like you will need to look for the Spyder RT Limited. The RT Limited seems to be the best for two up riding and has the most storage space, the two things you talk about.. The RT Limited 2014 to 2019 has the 1330 engine you want. each year between 2014 to 2019 there were small improvements. In 2020 the RT Limited was redesigned and has a different body shape with many improvements 2020 to 2025 there are some improvements each year. In 2021 BPR came out with a new model called the Sea to Sky that you might also like. The Sea to Sky is the same as the RT Limited but with upgrades i.e. better seat, wheels and more. So Sea to Sky goes from 2021 to 2025. Good luck shopping. Look around the forum older post for more info and look at BRP home page for the new models. Good luck shopping.HI, Thanks for the information I will go for the 1330 cc
Thanks for the advice, I am looking froward to the visit to the spider garage in a few weeks time, old age is getting to me I cant add up ? my trip last year was 4200 K around 2400 miles ??Well under those guidelines if I was you, go for the 1330, and if your pocket can take the heat go for a new one or find one as new as you can with low miles and a good service record!!! I am 80 and have two 2018 RT Limited Spyder. Last May I rode one of them from Arizona to Washington a 1850 trip that included the Northern California Coast, Oregon Coast and part of the Washington Coast. It was a 6 day repositioning ride for that one. Had a little incident the first day with a dog that is documented elsewhere.HI, I have decided to move onto 3 wheels I have been riding since 1971 but I know zero about the spider, so I wanted to check with people who know, I am going to the spider dealer in a few weeks time to pick one and the 1000cc spiders cost much less, but after looking at the replies I will go for the 1330 cc one. last year I took my Harley sportster pulling a trailer from my home town now Opole, Poland through Germany, Holland and into England and Scotland and back, and at 68 years old I felt every one of the 1100 miles, and on a trip to the north of Poland to a bike rally last year my wife said she was not comfortable and looking at the luggage space of the spider and its comfort /wind protection I am hooked on the spider. thanks again for all the help.
Thanks for the advice, I got a 2015 with 24 K on the clock, in black. It will come when I get back from Scotland next month. I live in Poland so using a bike in the winter is not a good idea, and I hope to take it to some events this year to try it out.Well under those guidelines if I was you, go for the 1330, and if your pocket can take the heat go for a new one or find one as new as you can with low miles and a good service record!!!
