There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Vibration and shaking at higheeer speeds

Good day all i have a 2009 RS SE5, with 15k on it just recently did a few upgrades and replacements, 25 " touring windscreen 3 tires (Arachnids ) plus Ride On in all 3 tires. so here is how it went had the original Kenda's on got the bike a year and a half ago with 2300 miles on it. had a laser alignment at SpyderQuest last year, windscreen and front tires replaced about a month ago, rear tire replaced about 3 weeks ago. Tires are not balanced with weights just Ride on with the amounts Lamonster recommended. When it was just the front tire and windscreen didn't notice any vibration after the break in period for the ride on, some but it got better, after the rear tire was put on and break in period was observed it all seem good. was getting on the highway and as i got to 88 the rear started to wobble and at 90 the whole bike started to shake front wheels bouncing handlebars oscillating then all kinds failures and then into limp home mode. pulled off the rode shut it down restarted drove home all was fine as long as i stayed under 88. Went back to dealer who mounted the rear tire and had them check and readjust the rear Tech said it was about 1 mm off and set the front tires to 18 and the rear to 26. drove home it seemed better got it up 90 still had the vibrations. Spoke with George B from Ride on he stated that I might have an issue where i would need to go beyond that number to get the ride on to compensate for the vibration. I have not been able to do what he has suggested for a sustained length of time. Up to that point it is a smooth ride. My question and i know its been a long time in coming is, 1- could the tires be at fault( Kendas were worn out on outer edges had them rotated right after the alignment) 2- the windscreen 3- the Ride On 4- all of them together ?

Here's the thing....

After you changed the front tires and the rear you alignment is more than likely off. I would start there and have them check wheel bearings and ball joints. Your laser alignment depends on the rear wheel being aligned with the machine. jmo

VIBES

I read your description ...twice......I have a feeling that the rear ARACNID tire could be a bad one .....so bad the ride-on can't compensate for the issue with the tire........Remember this tire was modeled after the KENDA.....and it is not equal to say a Michelin in construction or quality control............It is unusual that a REAR tire would cause this much vibration , but if a belt is bad etc. this could be the problem.................jmho.......Mike

update on the wobble

OK as i have been able to get the Ride On up to and above the point that the bike shakes in the 3 digit range, so the bal is good, here's the only thing, when getting to this point the steering starts to go back and forth like there are worn tie rod ends(checked no play), now if i pull back on the bars as i'm accelerating to that point i keep it from wobbling. Any thoughts, could the way the center tread on the arachnid tire be the cause ? The center tread on the Kenda is a different design

If you used Lamonsters #s for ride on then it's way too much. Ride-on changed the formula since then. Current rage is 9-11 oz front. 16-20 rear

update

finally got time to do more testing and the upper ball joints have can play in them on both sides right side more than the left. It is strange i didn't notice it before the tire change or even when I had it lasered aligned last year at SpyderFeast

Update

replaced the upper ball joints and the issue is still there it seems that i can make it happen with hard accelerating up thru the gears if i back off a bit it goes away and then i can continue to accel. it seems like the tie rod are loose but they are tight and no play in them. seems like i'm lifting the front end up taking the load off and the wheels are hanging just touching the road. so far everything is tight has been re torqued, lubed or checked :banghead::banghead:
