• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You or some of our CSO's may encounter questions about a double payment of
compensation this month. Veteran's Nationwide have received double payment
in error. Veteran's should be advised that the VA is in the process of
recalling the overpayments. If the money is not in the account when
recalled the next month's payment will be recouped. Veteran's should be
advised not to spend or move the money from the current account and problem
should be resolved automatically.

Any further questions should be directed to VA number
800-827-1000 as the
information provided herein is the limit of what we know at the NSO office.

I have not got that - seems a bit odd to me, if you did get a double payment then seek out why with the VA, if not I would not call that number as someone is probably looking for you to give them your SSN

Where did you get that notice from?? One thing to note, if any Vet gets an overpayment they are notified by letter from the VA. with a follow up letter from the VA Debt Management Center.

You are correct in thinking that someone at the number will want your social security number. It is one of the main numbers for the VA and they won't help you without knowing your SSN.

:agree: Anytime they have messed up on mine I have always received a letter first. I haven't ever received a message like the OP did.

I work for th VA; will run this by the HR/ payment depatments on Monday. Good advise given by retired navy. I will repost what find out. :opps::yikes:nojoke:D

Not the normal way to do things. The need for your SS # or bank account # will be a further clue.

I got it from a reliable source. An officer from Mike 3/9 association, whom I served with in Nam. Sure would like to know if it is true. I will go to my bank on Monday and get a status of my checking acct. that mine is auto deposited in. Not sure if that will tell me anything thou. Now I am curious as it is from a real good source.

The 800 number is the one found on the main VA website. And asking you for your social is not going to be a red flag for scams in this case, the VA won't talk to you without that information.

As promised I checked with Mr. Lobdell, he is for real and explained that for some vets there were more than one entry into their accounts. However there was only one deposit actually made and that this was for a small number of disabled veterans. Mr. Lobdell said that this had happened to his account. This is not a scam, it happened to a limited number of veterans and no one was trying to scam any one. Hope this helps. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for checking it out!! I also checked my account and do not have a problem. How is Kalamazoo these days? worked for Pneumo Corp. in the late '70's & early '80's one of my accounts was National Waterlift. Haven't been back since. Nice place back then.

Vets comp

You guys have gotten my couriosity up to see exactly what forum my name was being kicked around in.. Great to see vet's helping vets in all aspects of our lives. Their is no better sort of assistance than a vet helping another vet.

In saying that, I would like to explain the e-mail that you are debating in your forum, I was contacted by one of your subscribers to see if it was a legitament concern.

It was in fact a potential problem that as a National Service Officer, I was passing on to our local Chapter and Department service officers in the State of Alabama. Whether you knew it or not, on January 30, 2014 a normal VA compensation payment was issued to veterans, and on February 2, 2014 due to a computer "glitch" a second payment was due to be issued. The VA scambled to recall the second payment before the actual deposits hit the banks and sucessfully averted a potential billion dollar mistake. Luckily most veteran's were not even aware of the issue, however, as a proactive, precaution, our office (Disabled American Veterans, Montgomery, AL ) advised our service officers in the field of a potential issue and what to do if it became an issue.

All of you are correct in suspecting any e-mail that asks for identifiable information or account information, however, a read of the e-mail I sent is clearly not asking for that type of info and was not intended for public distrubution outside of the DAV Department of Alabama.

I hope this clarifies the e-mail and I thank each of you for your service!

Thanks for your very informative explanation. We vets do need to stick together and try to help each other out whenever and however we can. Glad it wasn't a problem posting it..

Bob, thanks for asking, Kalamazoo is great. Population is creeping up and traffic is becoming more congested, but so it seems in most places. Have another year or so to wait, then will purchase a Spyder and start to travel. Can hardly wait:yes::yes::yes:
