• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Utopia Back Rest on an RT

I have a 2011 RT-S and would like to put on a backrest. Me and my wife have looked at the design of the Utopia and she wonders if her legs will hit it on the bottom corners ? Anybody have one on an RT that would have had a passenger that would know first hand ? The Corbin rest is tappered but it's only for Corbin seats so I would like to find an answer before I buy one. Thanks Rick

there are a couple of posts on here about
Utopias; plus a video link. check those out
and see if that might work for you.

worst case... call them and ask; before
buying one. hold their feet to the fire, for
the product they sell. :)

:ani29: Rick I've got one ordered they are going to ship it September 19th if you can wait your welcome to try mine when I get it on my RT.the only thing is you'll need to come to Texas:dontknow:

The Utopia is a great backrest---IF---you like the stock seat. I found it was too soft for me and I ended up buying a Corbin seat.

Now I have my special PE edition seat with a hole in it, and a Utopia attached.

Put our Utopia to its first real test this past weekend. 500+ miles. My back loves it! SWMBO sez no problem for her in back seat though she did have to take a few things out of the pouch after getting on board. Keep in mind that the Utopia is only about 12" wide.

utopia seat

I put one on my 2011 rts and love it. My wife rides all the time with me and has never complained about her legs hitting anything. Her stomach is a close fit to the pouch. We are not small people though. This is not a problem to most riders.

If you join the Michigan and Ohio clans at Joe's Gizzard City in Potterville on this Saturday, the 27th, chances are there will be at least one you can see first hand.

IF we make it, you can try TEDDYS

Teddy & I are going to try our best to make this Ryde/get-together, probably leaving Cincy on Friday night & camping along the way, so we're not late. Teddy gave me his consent that he'd give up a lil seat time if you'd like to give his RT-S with the Utopia a try. Last time he did this tho, he caused trouble in paradise:opps: so just make sure your prepaired for the outcome :roflblack:

Our experience

Wife really likes the feeling of being more enclosed with the Utopia installed. Kinda like she felt with our old Drag Specialities backrest on the last Wing. Now she can take her catnaps again.I have yet to find the sweet spot for what's left of my lower back, but the tinkering continues.

Pandy, i'm like you....trying to find the place that will give my lower back the support I need. If I could do it over, knowing what I know now, I would first remove the seat cover and cut out a couple inches or so of the foam on the butt pad section so that I could then lower the Utopia where I want it without that section of the seat pushing it out, thus forcing me too far forward. As it is now, I've tied a foam stuffed pouch, about 3 X 8 inches underneath the Utopia to support the lower lumbar. Helps a little.

I have the Utopia on mine, first of all, I really like mine a lot.

Never been on the back, but our son sits behind me, he said his legs do not hit or pinch on the corners.

we have 9000 miles on our utopia on our RT-S and couldn't do without it. The set screw on the bottom (on ours it is a silver screw that takes an allen wrench) adjusts and controls the front to back pitch; Mine is loose enough that I can reach behind my back while ryding and give it a turn either way to get the feel I want at any given time.

First I would like to THANK everyone for all the good info on their backrests. I will be ordering one tomorrow. Thanks again Rick

We just had the Utopia backrest added to the 2011 RT Limited yesterday and I love it:2thumbs:. Also my wife has no issues with it and is looking forward to adding "stuff" to the pouch. She says plenty of clearance.
