• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USPS is confused

Monk, consider giving it at least a few more days before you start looking at filing claims and calling the business. These calls are very stressful on small businesses (most really try very hard to serve their customers well), there isn't much he can do (it isn't lost), and it's still in transit (things do get misrouted from time to time, but I'm sure it will make it this week). Right now, perhaps we all need to give each other a bit more grace. I wish this was the worst of the problems so many of us are contending with, but it's really just package that may come in a few days late.

IMO, that's not fair on Pierre if USPS screws up.
Just wait & be patient. The chances are great that it will turn up.

As people have said, USPS routing has a mind of it's own. I know, as I have suffered from it with packages coming from the US to Canada.

I called Pierre to verify the correct address was on the package. It wouldn't be the first time (and won't be the last) that a business has put the wrong address on a package. (The correct address was on the package.) I wasn't complaining to him or about him. The only complaints I have are with the post office (not my local one...they're great). First that they shipped a package 1/2 way across the country for no reason and 2nd because their customer care sux......badly. Between the customer care agent and their IVR, I'm not surprised that they're on the brink of going out of business.

oldgoat---If the USPS doesn't deliver the package (and I'm sure they will eventually), it IS on Pierre to file a claim and complain to the USPS. He'll have to either send me a replacement or refund my money. That's just the way things work. I have no doubt he's a stand up guy and will take care of things if need be. My job is only to pay for something and receive it. No more, no less. I just sold a helmet. Once the new owner pays for it, it's my responsibility to get it to him. If it doesn't make it, I'll refund his money and fight w/Fedex (or UPS).

All sorting in the USPS is done by machine. Who knows how many times the optical character reader misreads a portion of the address due to smeared ink, torn label, or whatever, and the machine sprays a routing bar code on the package for the wrong city. It won't be until the package reaches the point where a human sees the label and has to manually correct it that it finally gets headed in the right direction. I was told a letter address has to be unreadable by two sorting machines before it goes to a third scanner where a human reads the address and keys it into the system. I once had a package coming to Idaho from Missouri that took a detour to Puerto Rico!

Don't count on FedEx or UPS to be the panacea you expect. Many, if not close to all, small package shipments end up being delivered the last mile by the USPS.

Congress has saddled the USPS with burdensome requirements for funding employee retirement programs which makes it difficult to be profitable.

A few years ago I order an aluminum top for my side by side, I was not familiar with the company at the time. They had some kind of "express delivery" that I paid a little extra for. I don't remember the exact cost but I think I paid about 20 bucks for shipping. To my surprise, when I checked the website, It was scheduled for delivery the next day. I thought, WOW what great service! Turns out the place I ordered the top from is about 4 miles from my home! I dealt with them afterward for other things and when they heard my story, they credited me with the shipping cost..... Jim

I've experienced the same thing with BajaRon. He lives about 60 - 70 miles from me and if I order in the AM, I usually receive the package the next day. Going to have to get up that way when the Virus thing is under control or ??? and meet him personally.....maybe even talk him into a ride together.

While living in Alamogordo, New Mexico (NM) I ordered a pair of mountain bikes from a bike shop-owner friend in San Antonio. The Post Office decided that New Mexico wasn't part of the U.S. so they sent them to Minnesota (MN) -even though there is no Alamogordo in Minnesota. They rectified the situation by sending them back to my friend's shop! As Homer Simpson would say, "Doh!"
