• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Using the iPhone/iPad to post on SpyderLovers

It's taken me some time to get all my devices dialed in the way I like them but I'm pretty much there right now and thought I would share with you all what's working well for me.

First off this message is being posted from my first generation iPad and screen shots from my iPhone 4GS. The apps I'm using are Camera Prime and Camera+.

Camera Prime has been my default camera now and here's a few reasons why.
One thing I missed when using my iPhone instead of my other camera was having the date displayed on the pictures, with CP I can set the date and time to be displayed.

The other thing I really like is I can setup the camera so it won't take the picture till my hand it steady.

Another thing I really like is being able to set the size of the photo. When posting on the web there's no reason to take a photo at full res and it slows down the upload time. Right now I have it set at 1600 by 1200 because the pics are going to my Photo Stream and I'm doing some work on them on my iMac and MacBook Pro. If I'm on a road trip I most likely will shoot at 800 by 600 as that is A perfect size for the web and will load fast.

I found that I can take a pretty good picture with my phone and if it needs a little touch up I can do that pretty easy with my Camera+ app and add a boarder and text too if I want.

The next thing is getting the pictures somewhere so I can link back to them on the board. Since you can't upload your pictures from your iPad photo albums you need to link them to an outside photo storage site. I've used Photobucket before but I really like Flickr so that's what I'm using now. After you create an account on Flickr you can download the app to your phone and then upload your pics from your phone to your Flickr account.

Now you can open up SpyderLovers on your iPad and Flickr on another tab so you can grab the BB code from Flickr and paste it in your message. Seeing space is sometimes limited when traveling I think more and more road warriors will be looking toward mobile devices for documenting their adventures and sharing them with fellow riders. I can check the weather radar, use the gps in the phone, book a room while on the road and take good quality pics and more all with one device. So far this is the best mobile answer I've found for posting your road trips using the iPad and iPhone. I'm sure that you can do the same with a Droid device.

The Techno wizard . I'm hard pressed to figure out how to turn my phone on.:dontknow: Its a good thing the wife is a techie.

Lamont is correct, there are Flickr, Tapatalk, and coolio camera apps for the droid as well (I use retro camera as it can make all kinds of weird pics pending the "camera" you select to take pics with), I will look into Camera Prime and Camera+ just to see if they are droid ported, I would be astonished if they are not. Otherwise I will drop some droid love around so I dont feel like I have been apple'd to death.

You can upload from your iPad if you use tapatalk... Though that makes the images smaller.

:agree: Love using Tapatalk on my iphone and ipad....... works really well. They just released the HD version for the ipad.... will have to check it out....

There are a few different apps that can upload photos from ipad/iphone to flicker.....flickstackr is one of them.....

I've been evaluating several online photo sites.....I am thinking Photobucket works the best for iphone/ipad/mac or PC. They do have their own very nice apps for iPhone and iPad. Seems easier to use than Flickr and better quality. And the paid version which will store full size images is $39.95 for 2 years.....and you will get rid of the ad's.
