• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bought my 2013 RT four years ago with the intent that my wife would be riding with me. She does on occasion but not nearly as much as I had hoped. I took a 3000 mile round trip ride with a buddy last year and really enjoyed it. I am ready to upgrade and the F3 is catching my eye for a little different ride experience. If I do, it will probably cut out my wife on any long trips (anything over an hour). So, I am thinking of buying an F3 and keeping the RT. I would then have the RT for rides with my wife or longer cross country rides. I would also have the F3 for shorter trips or around town. On one hand I think I should just choose a bike and on the other it would give me the best of both worlds. Garage space will be a concern but I can't think of too many other drawbacks.

Anyway, who owns two Spyders and how is that working out for you?
 
okay, now here's the "thing".
You get and ryde your 1330 equipped F3, and then your 998 RT gathers dust.
With the stupid way Kansas assesses personal property tax?
Of course if you later decide to sell your 998, you will see how challenging that is.
I know you will do what "fits" your situation. Stay safe.
 
Recently purchased RT

I purchased my F3L in 2016 and do enjoy it but often wondered if I missed something by not getting the RT. I recently purchased a 2014 RTS for me to ride sometime and also for either my daughter or BF to ride sometime.

When I purchased the F3 I had never ridden it as all of my test rides were on the RTS at my local dealer. The F3 was a long distance purchase and although I enjoy it sometimes I wonder if the RTS would be a more comfortable ride for me. So now I have both - and look forward to deciding which will be my favorite.

If both are affordable then I say go for it - I think I got a really good deal on the RTS and could sell it for more than I paid for it if I choose to do so.
 
I bought my 2015 RT-L two years ago having given up a 2008 Kawasaki Versys 650. My wife still had her Honda CTX700 but really liked the Spyder's features and comfort. She's never been a pillion rider so we eventually replaced her Honda with a very tidy and well maintained 2012 RT Limited which she loves dearly.

Last month we enjoyed a 2100 mile adventure from San Antonio to Tucson and Bisbee, Arizona, and return and did, in fact, really enjoy the trip. We can't think of a motorcycle better suited for long distance comfortable travel than a Spyder. We're sold on the stability, technology and carrying capacity.

And, we've discovered that people seem to treat Spyders and their riders differently than traditional motorcyclists. Throughout our trip we encountered non-riders who were interested in the machines, curious about our travels, and just plain polite and talkative. Apparently Sypders are viewed as being non-threatening. Then again we're senior citizens who wear light colored helmets with communicators, gloves, bright riding jackets, etc. That, in and of itself, is pretty non-threatening. ;)

And we manage to fit both into one half of a two car garage. Drive one in at a slight angle and then back the other in so the rear ends overlap a bit and it works just fine.

I had a 2014 RT for longer rides, and riding with the wife. I later purchased a 2012 RSS for when I wanted to get a little crazy and ride by myself. After having both for about 6 months, I considered getting rid of both and getting a F3T, that could do both. I talked to a friend and discussed why should I give up 2 for 1? Also, I considered the thought of giving up storage space. I also considered the fact that the F3T was not as comfortable for the passenger. The answer to all those questions were,
I cannot ride both at one time, I would have enough storage on the F3T, considering I hardly ever use all the storage I had on the RT. As for passenger comfort, I only have a passenger maybe 4 times a year.
So the obvious choice was to go with the 1 spyder (F3T), and then I picked up a 2 wheeler for solo riding when I wanted to lean again.
Only you can decide what is right for you.
 
enjoy the f3

I own a 2015 f3s my wife rides with me every time the the bike leaves the garage she loves it. We have made tripe to Indiana from Florida rode the dragon and planning to ride to Springfield the last of the month to the rally. We made a few adjustments added a back rest for here luggage and radio had a rt but like the f3 much more the ability to adjust the position of the controls for the driver is much more comfortable and the responsiveness and handling can't be bet
 
If the extra money is not a problem, and you have enough storage to accommodate your stable--one more spyder should not be a problem.

Linda puts about 5,000 a year on the 2011. I put about the same on the 2014. Bought a new Vulcan last summer and that got 3,500 miles in three months.

Its my car that does not get driven. Going on three years old and I just turned 9,000 miles on it.

My insurance for the four is $200 per month. Full coverage on everything.

All four are paid in full. I like the ability to ride what I want. :yes:
 
Well we own two my wife first got hers going from a Yamaha 650 Classic to a 2014 ST then I got my 2016 RTL switching from a Victory Cross Country Tour due to a shoulder injury. I have to say we usually take both out 95% of the time. We are thinking of selling or trading the 2014 ST and getting a F3 for the stable. You won' be disappointed having 2 Spyders but having two different an RT and F3 could be fun. Good luck

Two bikes

Ive been riding two wheels since the 70s, Harleys since 85. Kathy wanted her own bike and bought a 2016 RT Limited with a Freedom trailer last summer after taking the 3 day Spyder 3 wheel course. Ive always said I would go to 3 wheels if I had to for health reasons but after riding her RT a few times I thought "Why wait till I have to!", so I bought a 17 F3T and love it. Both bikes are setup to pull the trailer and we have put a little over 6K miles on both bikes so far. I miss having her on my bike as my backrest but really enjoy sharing the riding experience with her as she rides her own. We have Uclear intercoms and still communicate that way while riding. Kathy recently had shoulder surgery and wont be riding hers for a couple of months. It will be nice to have her as my backrest on the F3T when go to Spyderfest next month. Its the best of both worlds.
We are meeting lots of great folks and enjoying life. Hope to see you down the road soon whatever you decide to do.

I own 2 2012 Rt and 2014 Rt. For 2 years
sold the 2012Rt got a 2017 F3 Lt. Still have The 2014Rt
I just like having to bikes. I always have a back up.
