• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone know of free, or online software that you can plan stops by milage?

Going from Cuba MO to Cheyenne WY, but want to know when/where to stop around 150 miles. Plan on crashing in Kansas city MO for the night.

Any program out there that can do that?

HD ride planner works well -- just google it.

I don't know of any free software or app, but Microsoft Streets & Trips has a feature that lets you program fuel stops by fuel mileage and tank size, and as I recall, you can stop every so many miles, too.

HD one is similer to just google maps. Looking for something with the calculated fuel stops. Going to check out the Streets and trips.

Thanks!

I saw that and it's great for garmin's I assume. I was commenting it would be nice for BRP to have an app for a iPhone, Droid, etc. I would really rather not have to have another communication tool.

If you have a Garmin, then you can pull up gas stations, food, lodging as you go. I road from Denver along 70 to Indy last May. Believe me, you won't have any trouble finding anything you need as you go. Personally, I think pre planning where you are going to stop for gas and food is a waste of time. Wing it and enjoy it.

That's what I did going to Lamont's last year. I had planned the likely gas stops and programed them in, but it was easier just to hit the "where am I" when I got near my limits, and search for the nearest stations.

I have been using Streets and Trips for years (with some updates along the way). Easy to use and allows me to plan enough to reserve motels and identify points of interest that might deserve a variation in routing.
