• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trailer Towing

Hello everyone,
It has been awhile since the last time but I have a couple of questions. My wife and I where towing an Alumina Trailer in trailer towing mode and the gas mileage went down to 21 mpg. Is this normal and would it hurt my machine to tow in reg. mode? I have a 2012 rt ltd. Also I noticed a few grease fittings in the front. What kind of grease do you all recommend? Thank you in advance for all your help! Randy and Sandy

I never use trailer mode when towing and prefer to use my brain instead. When accelerating or going up a hill you need to rev up more but when cruzing or going downhill you don't need the power so why shift at higher revs. Your MPG will suffer pulling a trailer and if it is a boxy one that will reduce it even more... also the speed your running at affects MPG as well as tire pressure.

If the grease fittings are on the wheel hubs then use wheel bearing grease. If they are somewhere else then general-purpose EP grease is good.

I actually prefer trailer mode and got better mileage in trailer mode then with out. Shifting down is sooner.

We have a 2012 Rt and also get 21 mpg towing..I use trailer mode even though I think it runs better out of trailer mode...I only use it so I don't have to think so much...Gives me one less thing to think about.

what type of riding are you doing? Interstate, hwy, type of fuel used, tire pressures? Speed setting around 60 seems to be my sweet spot for best mpg

We were on vacation from St Louis to Minnesota...All types from interstate (70 mph plus) to windy roads...Didn't matter much what kind of roads..I used the highest octane available every tank...

21 mpg is pretty low. I tow a RT-622 trailer and with the exception of a few trips with really strong cross or head winds I get much better mileage than 21. I drive fast and usually have a fully loaded trailer.
