• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trailer Help!

Hello again, im getting closer to getting my new can am and i have a question for those of you who have bikes and Spyders and who trailer them! What size trailer would we need for a Spyder limited and a m109 (my husbands) he is looking at 12 foot v nosed, and wonders if it is large enough Thanks for any help....

A 12 foot V-nose won't do it, probably not even if it is 8 feet wide. I doubt a 7' x 14' v-nose would, either. The best thing to do is lay out the inside dimensions on the floor of the garage, and try to fit the bike and Spyder in. Remember that no part can cross the "line" even when simulating loading. Those lines will be box edges or walls with a real trailer.

Some considerations to be aware of:

A - Trailers are typically measured in nominal, outside measurements. You will not have that much space inside...sometimes much less. Measure for yourself before you buy...don't take anybody's word for it.

B - The trailer door or tailgate will be narrower than the inside...a Spyder needs 60"-62" plus clearance to get through.

C - You will need more room to provide for tie-downs...unless you use locking wheel chocks. One motorcycle may interfere with tying down the second MC. Plan and test your tie-down method up before you leap.

D - Be sure to check the towing capacity of your vehicle. If it is light, you may need a lighter, open trailer, and you may not be able to handle two motorcycles. Be sure to add spares, fuel, oil, and cargo weights to the expected load...the published weights are usually "dry". I do not recommend towing much more than 1/2 to 2/3 of the towing capacity. The engine, trans, and brakes will thank you for it.

I got bit by trailer size as well. The Spyder would fit inside the trailer, but the door opening was about 3 inches to small. Enclosed trailer.

We have two Spyder RT-S and trailer them on an ATV trailer designed for 4 quads. They fit perfectly nose to tail on the trailer. The trailer GVWR is 4000 lbs, so not a problem with the bikes. I'll post a picture when I find it.

I have a 7 x 12 Vee Hose that fits my RT with no issues. My ramp door opening is 75 inches wide and no issues driving the RT into the trailer. I equipped my trailer with 6 inches of additional height and single axle with electric brakes. I went with a single axle so I could move and spin my trailer in my driveway by myself by hand. I bought a set of wheel chocks on eBay and bolted to the floor and also mounted a removable ride on wheel chock to haul my Goldwing. The trailer pulls great with my GMC Denali XL and the electric brakes are a must have in my opinion.

I ordered my trailer from Hurricane Cargo in Fitzgerald, GA

Hope this helps in your decision.

I agree with the layout idea, you can do it on the computer, but putting tape on the garage floor and placing the bikes is better.

Remember that the wheel wells may be inside the trailer - I have a friend who built a floor, starting at the wheel wells - forward, and used the space underneath as storage. Personally, if you get a new one, you can opt for a flat floor.

A single axel unit would haul your RT & bike, but I could not find a single axel enclosed trailer over 12 ft, even on a custom build.

Finally, a V-nose is great for pulling, but you lose a lot of interior space. Unless you tow it a lot, the space is more valuable (IMHO).

I used a 7 x 14 v nose with no problems. Had plenty of room to spare. Also used the Superclamps with success...they actually made things much easier. We could load, strap and direct away in only minutes.

Currently have this trailer for sale on forum. We used it on four trips...including Sypderfest last year.

You might also check out the Iron Horse trailer...they cost a little more but are much lighter and more aerodynamic. They do have a model that fits the Spyder nicely.

Just a note to those who are commenting about hauling a Spyder in this or that. The OP needs to haul both a Spyder and a large motorcycle. If you have done so, say so, otherwise your posts can be very misleading.

This is true, my husbands bike needs to fit on the trailer also and its kinda big,, its a m109

If I remember correctly, Len (Pitbull) put TWO Spyders in a 7x14. Maybe you should reach out to him and find out the details on how he did it.
