There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Toy Hauler Questions

Looks like we settled on an Elevation 3612 for our toyhauler, due to light weight, good construction and the features we are looking for at a decent price. After spending the last couple of weeks looking at many different makes of haulers and seeing the same warnings on each concerning transporting gasoline powered vehicles, I'm wanting to know some advice from those experienced with toy haulers.

Do you travel with the side garage travel vents open?
Are you running the refrigerator on LP part time or continuously while you are traveling?
Are you having any issues with gas smell from the Spyder while you travel? Just received the new gas cap today (2012 RT Ltd), and I have read the warnings from forum members concerning not having a full tank when parked in a garage - thinking a moving garage would be worse.
What is your tow vehicle and your toy hauler combo, if you don't mind sharing? I have a Dodge 2500 Laramie, quad cab long bed 4WD with Cummins diesel and 4spd automatic, and will be adding some helper springs or bags as a precaution due to the 2500# hitch weight. I routinely haul 1 ton skids of wood pellets with no sagging or power issues.

Trailer is 11,600# dry, 2 axles, 15,000# gross. Will probably upgrade the truck in a few years to a 3500. I have many years of experience pulling campers and car trailers but this will be my first 5th wheel.
Any other helpful thoughts?
This unit has a 12' garage and the patio option, BTW.
Thanks!
Denny

Thing is with that fifth wheel you will not have 2500lb hitch weight and with the fifth wheel it spreads the weight better over all 4 wheels. I have hauled a lot heavier 5th wheel with a HD 2500 series no problem. As with any trailer hauling go with an E rated tire.

OUR SET UP

We have a Weekend Warrior FS2500 and we tow it with a 2500HD GMC with no problem. Two years ago we used it to haul our spyder to the Owners Event in Maggie Valley and had no problem with fuel smell. We have also hauled our UTV on many occasions in it. We have never used it with the vents open to worried about moisture getting inside. The frig runs on LP while moving and electric when at the camp ground. Besides if you cant haul toys with fuel in them in a toy hauler what good is it.

I run with the frig on LP when I,m on the road and have 0 problems with gasoline smell from either of my spyder or motorcycle. Never bother with vents, but it's not to say you can't. I have a t26y Jayco Octane with a GMC 3500 Denali/Duramax.

Hope I can help

I have Work and Play TH. Its not light.:roflblack:You can call me if I can help.

1) yes we travel with vents open. but gas smell has never been a problem. It's just nice in the summer to have fresh air flowing threw
the hauler.
2) yes we have gas working while on the road keeping refrig. cold. Stopping for a potty stop and cold drink in just one of the perks.
3) I have F150 and the best thing I did after long trip was to add air bags. Best money spent to make ride better. Now cant tell its even back behind the truck.
4) Buy a hitch that's got all the extras.

Hope that helps

We full time RV in an Excel Wild Cargo 41GKE pulled by a 2008 Dodge 3500 drw 2wd. GCW 32500 lbs.

Your truck will pull this trailer quite well probably without airbags. When you load the garage with your Spyder and other things it will take weight off your hitch and back onto the trailer axles.

We don't travel with the vents open and have not had any gas smell inside the RV. The appliances do stay on while travelling however in some provinces and states this practice is against local laws but I have never heard of anyone being checked.

We have new Voltage 3200. Haven't used it yet. We brought it home from the dealer in November and it is winterized. Probably take our 1st trip late March or in April. Gross weight is 16400. I have a 2003 F350 with 7.3 desiel, upgraded 4 speed automatic trans, Sumo springs and Bilstein shocks. I will be adding a BD engine exhaust brake. Voltage is loaded and has air bag on 5th wheel hitch.

Thanks for the pic! We looked at this model at Grumbine's, which I believe you told me in another thread delivered your unit. Not sure what ruled it out for us except maybe price as the model they have lists at $100K - has nearly all options.

We have a 40' diesel pusher motorcoach and always operate the refer on LP when underway. We've been RV'ers for over 30 yrs. and have operated this way with every rig we've owned without a problem. You should however turn off all LP devices when refueling, using a ferry, and traveling through tunnels (I think this law in all states).
