• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Top 10 Motorcycle Trips

Yet another top ten. This is from USA Today and 10Best. I have read of most of these here on Spyderlovers but only travelled one. What I consider to be my "home" trail is #1 on this list, I've done it many many times, but haven't completed any of the others so I could not be a fair judge. However I think the Cabot trail is indeed a fabulous ride. I live on a route that is called the mini Cabot Trail, about 50 miles around and is a fun ryde.

I enjoy reading the rydes of on other Spyderlovers "home" trails as well as those in the top 10. So wherever you are, enjoy the ryde.

On my list of hope to do's are the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway and the PCH.

1. Cabot Trail
2. Pig Trail Scenic Byway
3. Beartooth Pass
4. Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap
5. Blue Ridge Parkway
6. Cherohala Skyway
7. Three Sisters (Twisted Sisters)
8. Pacific Coast Highway
9. San Juan Mountain Skyway
10. U.S. Highway 101

Some very good stuff listed there. I am willing to bet though, that we could find one or two from each state and providence.

Now that's a great idea. So do you have a favorite in Alaska?

Pretty much any road in Alaska will give beautiful vistas of mountains, glaciers, and fields of fireweed in the summer.

If I had to pick one--Glenn Highway between Palmer and Eureka Summit. An Alaskan "official" scenic byway.

Anyone coming to Alaska via the Alcan Highway/Tok, will drive this beautiful stretch of the Glenn Highway.

We don't hear from Hawaii much either. Having been to the four main islands, I recommend the Hana Highway drive on the island of Maui. Fifty miles or so of beauty.

Great roads, all. The problem with many of them, however, is their popularity. Beartooth, PCH, the Dragon... you often gotta ride roads like these at 6 am on a Tuesday to enjoy an empty road.

That said, once I bought my Spyder, I became an early riser for that very reason. Nothing but nothing beats having a twisty scenic road all to yourself, it's about as close to heaven as one gets while still breathin'!

Almost any road

Any 2 laner in the early morning is a great ryde. No 18 wheelers, no traffic :clap:

Numbers 4, 5 and 6 are my 'home' roads. I am 30 minutes from the Dragon, and an hour from either the Cherohala Skyway and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Did a portion of the Blue Ridge just about 3 weeks ago. Did the portion from Cherokee, NC (the beginning) to Asheville, NC.

Rt 22 and the 7 Lakes Parkway in New York is are very nice roads and we will be heading to the Cabot Trail in a couple of days. We have done 4,5 and 6.

We don't have lots of twisty roads but to see the real prairie take Kansas Hwy 177 between Council Grove and Cassoday. It's the Flint Hills Scenic Byway and goes through the southeastern edge of the Tallgrass Prairie Nation Preserve. It's beautiful country and an easy ride.

One our all time favorites in The Lewis and Clark Trail (Rt. 12 from Lolo, Montana to Lewiston, Idaho). It follows a river most of the way, and has lots of twisties. Great scenery and little traffic, and it is not a truck route.

Top 10

We have a number of great rides here in Oregon , the Coast Hwy. can be slow in the summer but the majority of them are never crowded with traffic , there are some well kept secret rides in Eastern Oregon that you may and may not see anyone all day long .

My favorite bike trip ever was Olongapo City to Bagiou City in the Philippines.

Used to make the ride once a year or so on my Yamaha RD-400 when I lived in the Philippines the second time from '76 - '78.
