Tired and sore

Rode from Athens, MI to Flint MI Sat morning. I was trying the higher RPM shifting but to me my gas milage just seemed way too low. I had to stop about halfway up to de-layer and get gas. No strong winds just a nice ride. We took part in a fundraiser ride for a fallen warrior. About 30 bikes went from a bar out to Holly National Cemetary. Then we were on our own for a kind of poker run. Due to the state poking their nose in it was not a poker run but stops at four places. About 100 miles on the run. It was hot but we had a great time. Came home this morning and had severe cross winds. After the hot ride yesterday and the tough ride today I am sore and tired. The bike was great it stayed where it was supposed to. I on the other hand was pushed all over. My wife even said at one time it felt like her helmet was going to get blown off. All in all a great ride. About 325 miles total. We love our Spyder!!!

Sounds like fun. So next year you won't need to trailer to Spyderfest right?

I'm concerned: Raising the shift-points (for me at least) only minimally affected fuel mileage. (About 1 mpg...) How much of a difference where you noticing?? :shocked:

And BobD. we noticed about a 4 mpg difference when shifting at above 5K compared to shifting around 3600-4K, but that's just us Heck, when in tow-mode with the SE5 & our Moto-Mate Camper, we shift around 5200 and average about 22 mpgs:shocked:

Didn't figure it out, just watched the gage (I know it bounces around) go past halfway with more then 60 miles left. I should be able to go 120 miles or so and it just seemed like I might not make it. Maybe I am still getting used to the higher RPM shifting. I will start to track it. Anyway it was a great ride.
